The Gilles Villeneuve Museum invites racing fans in the Greater Quebec (and elsewhere in the province) to make a return in the past, in memory of the legendary champion, Gilles Villeneuve.
The establishment of Berthierville organizing a benefit evening to be held on Tuesday, January 26, in the Old Capital. The evening, including an excellent meal, take place at the Galopin restaurant, partner of the event. Funds raised will help the museum, a non-profit organization, to continue its mission, to perpetuate the memory of Gilles Villeneuve through the years, generations. The Gilles Villeneuve Museum welcomes visitors from around the world for over 27 years.
Club Cerf Quebec
During the evening, it will of course issue of first Grand Prix de Québec ran in 1977 and won by ... Gilles Villeneuve. One of the main organizers of this competition, Pierre Sansfaçon, Lévis, then president of the Quebec Automobile Club Cerf also served as treasurer of the Grand Prix.
Mr. Sansfaçon tell people present how Quebec could establish that race featuring the Formula Atlantic championship ... and its main headliner, Gilles Villeneuve.
Recall that the Quebec Grand Prix was held three consecutive years, from 1977 to 1979. A 2 km circuit was built on the Expo-Cité site. The first edition was presented on 23-24 and 25 September 1977. Gilles Villeneuve won that first edition, en route to Formula 1! Other big names of motor racing also took part in the Quebec event: Bobby Rahal, Patrick Depailler, Jacques Laffite, Keke Rosberg ...
The evening will also be marked by an auction profits Gilles Villeneuve museum. Several beautiful collection pieces will then be auctioned. Among them, some signed by Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen, Jacques Villeneuve Niki Lauda ...
