Toronto, Ontario - In the automotive enthusiast community, Chip Foose is a legend. Best known as the star of the hit show Overhaulin’, Foose is also celebrated as one of the most talented, successful, and popular automotive designers and builders in the world. His impressive resume includes numerous accolades and major awards.
Foose, a California resident, was originally scheduled to make his Toronto Motorama show debut in 2020 but was forced to cancel his appearance due to the onset of the pandemic. Five years later, the organizers of the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo, presented by eBay Motors, are thrilled to announce that Chip Foose will be in attendance at the upcoming show, meeting and interacting with showgoers on Saturday and Sunday, March 8 & 9, 2025.
“I’m really looking forward to coming back to Toronto and being part of the Motorama show in March,” said Foose in his announcement. “Canadian car people are passionate about cool vehicles, and it’s always fun connecting with them at shows like Motorama. We’ll be there for two days, meeting fans, signing autographs, taking pictures, and telling stories. It’s going to be a great time.”
A four-time winner of the prestigious Ridler Award at the Detroit Autorama, Foose is also a seven-time recipient of the Goodguys Street Rod of the Year Award. At just 31, he became the youngest-ever inductee into the Hot Rod Hall of Fame when he was honored in 1997.
A second-generation designer and builder, Foose was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. He honed his skills working alongside his father and several other influential automotive innovators. In the late 1990s, he founded Foose Design, an automotive and product design company that has since become an industry leader.
Foose's public profile skyrocketed in 2004 with the debut of Overhaulin’, a popular TV show that ran for nine seasons until 2015, in which the cars of unsuspecting owners were restored and improved without their knowledge. The show returned for a tenth season with shows airing in 2019 and 2020. A rockstar in the automotive world, Foose maintains long-standing sponsor relationships with some of the biggest names in the industry. His projects are regularly showcased at high-profile events such as the Las Vegas SEMA Show, further cementing his status as a leading figure in car culture.
Speaking on behalf of Motorama, co-promoter David Weber said, “We’re proud and excited to announce that Chip Foose is coming to the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo presented by eBay Motors. This is our tenth anniversary edition of Motorama, and it coincides with the 50th anniversary of car shows happening on the same weekend at the International Centre. Chip Foose is a legend in the industry, and we can’t think of anyone better to help us celebrate these two important anniversaries with our fans and exhibitors.”
Chip Foose will appear on Saturday and Sunday, March 8 & 9, 2025. Schedule details will be available in the weeks leading up to the show. Toronto, Ontario — Fresh off the Formula 1 Constructor’s Championship victory in Abu Dhabi, McLaren has announced it will be showcasing a winning lineup of supercars at the Canadian International AutoShow. There will be five McLarens on display, including a GTS, 750S, Artura, and two P1s, one of which is constructed in LEGO® bricks. 2025 will mark 13 years of McLaren participating in Canada’s largest automotive expo.
Recently joining the lineup as the replacement for the GT, the McLaren GTS balances supercar driving dynamics with daily usability and comfort. The twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 churns out 626 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Boasting a 14-hp bump over its predecessor, it also offers less weight and a lower centre of gravity thanks in part to its carbon fibre roof. Other enhancements include styling tweaks to the bumpers, fenders and wheels, along with larger air vents to keep the mid-mounted engine cool. The interior receives updated seating, colour schemes and accents. The refreshed supercar is said to hustle from zero to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, hitting 200 km/h in just 8.9 seconds.
Introduced in 2023 as the successor to the award-winning 720S, the McLaren 750S channels McLaren’s racing heritage with a host of new updates for 2025, including a power upgrade and improved aerodynamics. 2025 also sees the introduction of new enhanced visualization and options though McLaren Special Operations (MSO), comprised of bespoke exterior details, paint colours and interior treatments. A new Stealth Badge package also joins the list of options, along with Carbon Fibre fender louvres. The new 750S is the lightest and most powerful production McLaren, weighing just 1,277 kg and boasting a twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8. Making 740 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, helping it hustle from zero to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds.
A McLaren Artura will also be gracing the halls of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this February. Remaining true to the British manufacturer’s roots, the supercar is outfitted with a ultra-compact 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 and compact, lightweight AxialFlux E-motor and Carbon Fibre and accoutrements to save weight. Previously found in the rare, ultra-exclusive P1 which pioneered the technology, followed by the Speedtail Hyper-GT, the Artura is McLaren Automotive’s first series production high-performance hybrid supercar.
McLaren Automotive and The LEGO Group have collaborated to create a life-size LEGO® Technic version of the iconic P1 supercar. Consisting of an incredible 342,817 Technic elements, the LEGO® Technic McLaren P1 is the first big build the group has made that is capable of steering and driving an entire lap of a racetrack. McLaren Formula 1 Team driver, Lando Norris, puts the one-of-a-kind car to the ultimate test at the famed Silverstone Circuit. Completing a lap of his home circuit and host track of the British Grand Prix, Norris piloted the car around thechallenging 5,891 km (3.66 mile) course.
Weighing 1,220 kg (2,690 lb), the build was brought to life by 23 specialists - including designers, engineers and builders from LEGO Group and McLaren Automotive. The project took 8,344 hours from design to completion, requiring the use of 393 different types of LEGO® Technic elements.
“We are excited to welcome back McLaren and LEGO Canada for 2025,” says Jason Campbell, General Manager of the AutoShow. “Visitors of all ages will be able to appreciate these exhibits that represent the pinnacle of innovation and craftsmanship.”
McLaren will have its primary new vehicle display on the 300 Level of the North Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The McLaren and LEGO feature will be showcased on the 700 Level of the South Building. The LEGO display will be accompanied by a 6,000 sq. ft. Kids Play Zone and retail area, which have been popular features at past AutoShow exhibitions.

February 16, 2024
With a conflict for last year's Canadian International Auto Show that couldn't be resolved, the 2024 edition was the first show we've attended since before Covid, so we were excited to get back out and see what the show had to offer in the new, post-Covid era, and of course to see what motorsport offerings the show had.
Starting in the south building with the Porsche reveal was a bit disappointing as a marque as distinguished in motorsport history as Porsche had nothing on offer for the motorsport fan, save a small collection of diecast models at the back of their display. They did have their gamer Grand Turismo inspired prototype parked in front of their hall, but not really my kind of thing, unless they plan to actually race it somewhere that isn't on a monitor.
Shannonville Motorsport Park has a Ford Mustang in their display promoting the GT Race Experience. (https://shannonville.com/gt-race-experience/).
Karting was well represented with with displays from Canadian Mini Indy and Mosport Karting together, as well as Goodwood.
The only NASCAR Canada representation we saw was the DJ Kennington Castrol Dodge Challenger.
The two big displays you're going to want to check out in the south building is the Rev TV hall and the Red Bull Fan Experience.
Red Bull has a "full-sized static Show Car of the World Championship-winning RB18 car driven by Max Verstappen in the 2022 Formula One World Championship" or as we refer to it, the Red Bull RB18(ish). The display also has a series of racing simulators to try out as well.
The REV TV hall has the biggest display of race cars, so make sure you get in and check it out. Cars in the display include the #77 Emzone Radical that Jonathan Woolridge drove to a perfect season in 2022, one of the new Porsche GT4 RS Clubsport cars that will be driven by Cayden Goodridge in this years FEL Series, the #71 GSR Engines Sprint Car and looking back in time the Pop 84 Rothamans Turbo Porsche of Scott Goodyear and my personal favourite, a 1985 Reynard F2000 that I very likely worked on back in my Spenard David days, now used by Toronto Motorsports Park for their track day experiences.
Moving to the North building we find most of the manufacturer displays. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of race cars out with the manufacturers on Media Day. Only Nissan, with a Sentra Cup car and Hyundai with Conner Attrell's FEL Series TCR car had anything on display.
One of the more interesting cars in the show is Belleville, Ontario-based Scalar Performance and their Toyota GR86-based electric conversion SCR-1. Currently the SCR-1 is probably the only all-electric car competing against internal combustion cars, competing in the NASA Super Touring Series.
And while not a manufacturer, Pfaff did have their crowd favourite McLaren 720S GT3 Evo GTD Pro class IMSA race car, along with another crowd favourite, team driver for the endurance races James Hinchliffe. You can see Hinch at the show on Saturday Feb 17 from 2:30 to 3:30 at the Pfaff booth on level 300 of the North building.
Downstairs in the North building is the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame display and a pair of IRL cars from Dario Franchitti, this year's inductee into the Hall in the International category, while the Ferrari hall has the #61 R. Ferri Ferrari Challenge car.
And while not race cars, there were some really outstanding cars in the Auto Exotica/Cobble Beach Concours display including one of my all-time favourites, the 1929 Bentley Speed Six, the type the won LeMans in 1929 and again in 1930. Also in the display were a Shelby Cobra, a Ferrari 250GT Tour de France car and a great old Porsche 356.
All in all, there have been better shows in the past for motorsport fans, but still a lot to see and the RB18(ish) is definitely worth checking out, along with the REV TV hall.
The Canadian International AutoShow runs from February 16 to 25 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, from 10:30am to 10:00pm each day. Tickets are available by clicking HERE
