Following a successful season, Wally Wilson Racing celebrated their accomplishments at the OSCAAR Awards Banquet on Saturday, January 21.
With solid finishes through the entire inaugural OSCAAR Pro Midget season, Wilson was able to put together a season without any finishes outside of the top-seven en route to finishing second in the series points. Meanwhile with a top-10 finish in each race this year for the OSCAAR Midgets, Wilson put together a solid sophomore campaign en route to finishing fourth in the standings.
On top of being called-up for both top-five points finishes, Wilson received three other awards on the night.
In both the Pro Midget and Midget, Wilson passed gained more positions each race than any of his competitors en route to picking up the SirusXM – Race Time Radio Hard Charger Award. Additionally, Wilson took home the Sportsman of the Year Award. From the start of the season, Wilson showed respect to his fellow competitors off and on the track. He also helped promote both Midget divisions by starting a Pro Midget twitter account, and consistently posting on his Instagram account.
With the final wrap now put on the 2016 season, focus has already began to shift to 2017 with preparation in high gear for the upcoming season. Following the recent purchase of a modified, the team has already began to resign sponsors for the upcoming year and get to work, with more announcements set to come leading up to the season.
