Toronto, Ontario – Alana Carter becomes the first driver confirmed to the newly launched Radical Academy.
A rising star in international sportscar racing, Carter made the move cross-country from Alberta to Toronto in 2022 to make her dream of a full-time career in motorsports a reality. Since then, she placed first in the 2022 Formula Woman racing competition and became the first person to race a Lotus Emira GT4 alongside her teammate. Most recently, Carter participated in her first Radical race, placing fourth in class at Donington Park Circuit in the UK.
This year, Carter will be driving for Radical Academy, racing in the 2024 FEL Motorsports Emzone Radical Cup Canada series. Radical Academy is the first-of-its-kind female forward racing team led by Team Principal April Burgess, in partnership with Radical Canada.
Founder and Team Principal April Burgess comments, “Radical Canada is excited to announce the extension of an all-female racing team, Radical Academy. By having a female forward team, the intention is to raise awareness for women in motorsport.”
Radical Academy seeks to support women in motorsport from the garage to the top of the podium, with the mission to see as many women on the track racing side by side as men.

Alzenau, Germany - Hyundai will bring its largest team yet to the Nürburgring Nordschleife to contest this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours (May 30-June 2). Three Hyundai Elantra N TCR cars stand ready to chase a fourth consecutive class win for the team.
The crews for the cars hail from three different continents and include the defending class winners, as well as champion Hyundai Motorsport customer drivers from some of the most competitive TCR series.
The three cars – set to carry the #830, #831 and #832 during the endurance racing weekend – will be led by Mikel Azcona, Marc Basseng and Manuel Lauck aboard the #830 car. These three drivers combined to win the TCR class in 2022 and 2023, while Basseng and Lauck also achieved victory at the 2021 Nürburgring 24 Hours in the Elantra N TCR’s debut at the legendary endurance race.
The Hyundai-Motor-America-supported Bryan Herta Autosport team enjoyed a superb Nürburgring 24 Hours debut performance in 2023, completing the third-consecutive Hyundai Motorsport Class 1-2 finish. The BHA team returns to the Nordschleife in 2024 with a different driver lineup: Mason Filippi and his team-mate, 2023 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series champion, Harry Gottsacker, will make their second starts in the TCR class. They will be joined by Canadian Mark Wilkins making his 24 Hours debut. 19-year-old Bryson Morris completed the team for the Qualifiers weekend in his first Nordschleife start with a TCR car, although the final driver for the 24 Hours weekend is yet to be confirmed.
All new for 2024 is the #832 entry, set to be driven by four stars of the TCR China series: Hongwei Cao, Rainey He, Andy Yan and Zhang Zhen Dong. Cao emerged with the 2023 national series title in his first year driving the Elantra N TCR after a tense season finale on the streets of Macau in November. Cao will share the car for the Nürburgring 24 Hours with his 2023 Hyundai N squad team-mates, He and Yan. The team will be completed by Dong, who competed in TCR China last year with the Z Speed team, finishing eighth in the highly competitive series with a pair of podium appearances. His efforts helped the Elantra N TCR clinch the Car TCR Model of the Year honours in the national series.
The team and drivers all competed last weekend at the N24 Qualifiers. They finished the weekend with a perfect 1-2-3 in class in Sunday’s four-hour race of the weekend as Azcona, Basseng and Lauck took victory infront of the North American and Chinese teams. On Saturday the #830 team recovered from a puncture to win the class. Similarly, Filippi suffered a puncture early in the race aboard #831 but brought the car back to the pits with no further damage. The car would complete the podium ahead of the Chinese-crewed car in fourth.
The three-car TCR team for the Nürburgring 24 Hours further advances the close connection between Hyundai N, the Nürburgring and the race. Fittingly, Hyundai's N performance division name itself is derived from the legendary German circuit, as well as Namyang, South Korea - home of Hyundai's global R&D centre. Hyundai maintains a technical centre within sight of the circuit, which it uses to conduct extensive testing of every new road car model as part of their on-going development.
Hyundai Motorsport has developed an equally strong and successful link with the Nürburgring 24 Hours. All three TCR designs built by the Customer Racing department have scored class podiums in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, with Elantra N TCR race cars emerging victorious the last three years.
The trio of Elantra N TCR teams for the 2024 race aims to add to this incredible record. However, the Nürburgring 24 Hours is widely recognised as one of the most extreme challenges in motorsport. A combination of the unforgiving 25km circuit, famously varying weather conditions, a huge range of performance within the 140+ cars on track, and the difficulty of driving through the night remains unparalleled in modern racing.
The official line-up of teams for the race will be completed by the Hyundai Driving Experience i30 Fastback N in the VT2 Front-Wheel-Drive class. In 2023, the team dominated the class, winning by an impressive nine laps, though their advantage was as much as double that margin before a late technical problem. The team for 2024 will include two of the winners from last year in experienced drivers Marcus Willhardt and Michael Bohrer. They will be joined by journalist-racer Jens Dralle who returns for a second year with the team at the Nürburgring 24 Hours after driving a second car in 2023. The team will be completed by Korean Junior driver Gyumin Kim, who has already proven his talent as the Hyundai N Festival winner in his home country last year before helping the team to class podium finishes in the first two NLS races of the season earlier in April.

Indianapolis, Indiana – From on-track action and high-flying demonstrations to hip DJs and cool rock concerts, Miller Lite Carb Day on Friday, May 24 is the ultimate boost into the Greatest Weekend in Racing.
“Miller Lite Carb Day is the unofficial start to summer and the kickoff to race weekend,” Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles said. “It’s a full day of fun, with something for everyone to enjoy. It’s a day like no other at the Racing Capital of the World.”
Gates will open at 8 a.m. at IMS, allowing fans ample time to explore and find the best seat before the stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES take to the famed 2.5-mile oval for the final practice before the 108th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
After practice concludes, the action shifts to the sky with a Thunderbirds practice demonstration and the Red Bull Air Force.
The United States Air Force Demonstration Squadron, known as the Thunderbirds, will perform the flyover during pre-race ceremonies for the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 26. Fans in attendance on Miller Lite Carb Day will get a special treat as the Thunderbirds conduct a practice demonstration in preparation for Race Day.
The Red Bull Air Force are known for pushing the boundaries of flight and making the impossible possible. Featuring Mike Swanson and Jeff Provenzano, the expert team has completed tens of thousands of successful jumps between them, making them some of the most accomplished and experienced aviation squads on the planet.
The Indy 500 Pit Stop Challenge has been a staple of the Indianapolis 500 since 1977. Pit crews compete head-to-head in single eliminations for the opening rounds, meeting for a best-of-three showdown in the final. During each round, the crews conduct a standard pit stop, which includes switching all four tires and simulating refueling, in the shortest possible time on a specially constructed dual pit lane.
Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing won his fourth Indy 500 Pit Stop Challenge in 2023 by besting Team Penske’s Will Power in the best-of-three finals.
The 2024 Indy Pit Stop Challenge will feature the high-energy style and versatile genre range of DJ Mystro, who has been recognized as one of the Midwest’s most promising breakout DJs. Mystro, an Indianapolis native, is a party starter and a lifelong musician and drummer. He’s taken his music knowledge and transitioned those abilities to bring the heat to weddings, corporate events, clubs, concerts and festivals across the world. Mystro also performs as an official DJ for the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts.
Gates for the Miller Lite Carb Day Concert will open at 2 p.m. this year, allowing for more entertainment, including Indianapolis recording artist Kid Quill. Headliner George Thorogood & The Destroyers will be joined by special guest Gin Blossoms, which will open the show.

Birmingham, Alabama – Scott McLaughlin proved Sunday there’s no strategy like pure speed to win an NTT INDYCAR SERIES race.
McLaughlin won the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix powered by AmFirst for the second consecutive year at Barber Motorsports Park, again using a mash-the-gas, three-stop pit strategy in his No. 3 Good Ranchers Team Penske Chevrolet to earn his first victory of the season and his fifth career win.
The triumph put a positive exclamation point on a trying week for Team Penske, which was penalized Wednesday for illegal use of the Push to Pass system at the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding. McLaughlin and Josef Newgarden were disqualified from the race, while Will Power received a 10-point penalty.
“We know our job, we know what we need to do,” McLaughlin said. “I’m just super proud of the execution. A couple of yellows didn’t fall our way, but we just showed our pace. We just keep rolling, man.
“Definitely one of my best drives in terms of execution and just knocking out the laps. Very happy we could advance to the checkered flag there and bring home a W for Team Penske and for Roger (Penske).”
Power finished second in the No. 12 Verizon Business Team Penske Chevrolet, 1.3194 seconds behind McLaughlin, after starting second. Rookie Linus Lundqvist earned his first career INDYCAR SERIES podium finish by placing third after starting 19th in the No. 8 American Legion Honda fielded by Chip Ganassi Racing.
Felix Rosenqvist finished fourth in the No. 60 AutoNation/SiriusXM Honda to continue burnishing his potential championship credentials after joining Meyer Shank Racing this season. Two-time and reigning NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou rounded out the top five in the No. 10 Ridgeline Lubricants Honda as Chip Ganassi Racing matched Team Penske also with two drivers in the top five.
McLaughlin, who led 58 of the 90 laps after earning the NTT P1 Award in qualifying Saturday, took the lead for the final time on Lap 76 after his final pit stop. McLaughlin, Power, Lundqvist and Christian Lundgaard were the leading drivers on a three-pit stop strategy, while Palou and Rosenqvist were among those who opted to make only two stops and conserve fuel in hopes of snatching an unlikely victory like Scott Dixon did April 21 in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Palou led Laps 46-55 while on the alternate strategy before making the last of his two stops at the end of Lap 56. Meanwhile, McLaughlin – who made his second stop at the end of Lap 46 – knew he had to build a gap of around 27 seconds on Palou after Palou’s final stop to be able to keep the lead after his third and final stop.
No problem.
McLaughlin led Palou by nearly 30 seconds before his last stop and exited the pits for the final time ahead of his Chip Ganassi Racing rival. It looked like McLaughlin had more than enough speed to hold off Power over the last 14 laps, as both were on identical fuel strategies and running Firestone Firehawk alternate tires to the finish. Meanwhile, 2022 INDY NXT by Firestone champion Lundqvist completed his mighty march from the back of the field by passing teammate Palou for third place on Lap 84.
But the last of the race’s four caution periods threw a trick in the tail. Rookie Christian Rasmussen spun and stalled his No. 20 Guy Care Chevrolet of Ed Carpenter Racing in Turn 13 on Lap 86.
That set up a two-lap scramble for the victory on the 17-turn, 2.3-mile asphalt roller coaster. On the Lap 89 restart, McLaughlin eased away from Power and stayed inch-perfect for victory.
“It was a hard-fought 1-2 for Penske,” Power said. “We were certainly fast, but obviously a lot of strategy played into that. We were able to use our speed to come out in front again.”
McLaughlin, from New Zealand, has won at least one race in each of the last three seasons after joining the team full time in 2021. He was a legend in the Supercars Championship based in Australia, winning three consecutive titles for Penske in that touring car series from 2018-20.
Six-time series champion Dixon, who led the points entering this event, lost the top spot with his 15th-place finish capping a challenging weekend for the No. 9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda crew.
Colton Herta took the NTT INDYCAR SERIES points lead for the first time – by one point over Power – after finishing eighth in the No. 26 Gainbridge Honda of Andretti Global w/Curb-Agajanian. Palou is third, just three points behind Herta. Dixon is fourth, just seven points behind Herta.
That sets the table for a magical Month of May at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The most fabled three weeks in motorsports begin with the Sonsio Grand Prix on Saturday, May 11 on the IMS road course, followed by the 108th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 26 on the IMS oval.

Indianapolis, Indiana – INDYCAR has announced penalties for Team Penske, including disqualifications for the No. 2 (driver Josef Newgarden) and No. 3 (Scott McLaughlin) and a 10-point penalty for No. 12 (Will Power) from the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding on Sunday, March 10 on the Streets of St. Petersburg.
Team Penske was in violation of the following “Push to Pass” parameters:
Rule 14.19.15. An indicator to enable Push to Pass will be sent via CAN communication from the timing and scoring beacon on board the Car to the team data logger. This signal must be passed on to the ECU unmodified and uninterrupted during all Road and Street Course Events.
Rule 14.19.16. Race Starts and any Race Restart that occurs before the lap prior to the white flag or prior to three minutes remaining in a timed Race Event will have the Push to Pass system disabled and will be enabled for a given Car once that Car reaches the alternate Start/Finish line.
According to the rulebook, the violation is considered a Race Procedure Penalty (9.2.2.), which includes the right to reposition the Driver/Car in the posting or results, with a disqualification (9.2.2.6.) that includes the forfeiture of points and awards.
During the Sunday, April 21 warmup session ahead of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, INDYCAR discovered the team’s possible rules violation.
An extensive review of data from the race on the Streets of St. Petersburg revealed that Team Penske manipulated the overtake system so that the No. 2, 3 and 12 cars had the ability to use Push to Pass on starts and restarts. According to the INDYCAR rulebook, use of overtake is not available during championship races until the car reaches the alternate start-finish line.
It was determined that the No. 2 and the No. 3 gained a competitive advantage by using Push to Pass on restarts while the No. 12 did not.
Additionally, all three entries have been fined $25,000 and will forfeit all prize money associated with the Streets of St. Petersburg race.
“The integrity of the INDYCAR SERIES championship is critical to everything we do,” INDYCAR President Jay Frye said. “While the violation went undetected at St. Petersburg, INDYCAR discovered the manipulation during Sunday’s warmup in Long Beach and immediately addressed it ensuring all cars were compliant for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. Beginning with this week’s race at Barber Motorsports Park, new technical inspection procedures will be in place to deter this violation.”
Due to the disqualification penalty of the No 2, the No. 5 entry of Arrow McLaren driven by Pato O’Ward is now credited with the win on the Streets of St. Petersburg.
