Jonathan Woolridge and the Performance Tech Motorsports team are excited to be back on track this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville Ontario for the 4th round of the IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge. This weekend will certainly be a special one for Woolridge as this is his home Grand Prix, being the only Canadian currently in IMSA LMP3 Prototypes.
After great success last year winning race one, Woolridge is set to get back onto the top step of the podium for the second year in a row. Woolridge famously won all of his races in the Radical Cup Canada at CTMP, and hopes to keep the streak going in this incredibly stacked field of drivers.
“The pressure is on! I am beyond excited to be back racing in front of the home crowd. Going back 10 years, I was that young kid hanging onto the fence watching the IMSA Prototypes fly by in corner 1. The fans here in Canada love sports car racing, which always makes racing here that much more special. CTMP marks one year together with the team, Performance Tech. I could not think of a better way to celebrate than winning again this coming weekend. Last year we set the bar high, this year I expect to set the bar even higher at the home track!"
About CTMP
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park's renowned 3.957-km (2.459-mi.) Grand Prix track opened in 1961. Today it is CTMP's centrepiece and primary spectator facility. This high-speed circuit comprises 10 turns and several dramatic elevation changes that confront drivers with an exciting variety of challenges on every lap.
Jonathan Woolridge Racing is excited to welcome new partners to our team! This weekend we have Fortress Technology coming onboard, a Canadian company not too far away from CTMP! Fortress Technology is a global leader in metal detection established in 1996. With great success in Canada, the Fortress team has expanded to both the UK and Brazil! Fortress Technology will be proudly represented on our LMP3’s sidepod!
Additionally we are thrilled to welcome 6 Sigma Sim Racing to our LMP3 journey! 6 Sigma Sim Racing was founded in 2021 by Stanley Lin to fill a void in the industry for high quality, affordable sim racing cockpits, specifically for hobby sim racers with a vision. We are incredibly grateful for Stanley and his team who will be providing fans with the opportunity to try out a racing sim this weekend at the track!
Finally we want to welcome Clubine Motorsports! Bill Clubine and his team are out to fuel young talent, supporting drivers in Canadian TCR, USF, and now IMSA! Clubine Motorsports provides opportunities and support to young Canadian drivers in the industry with a dream, and the talent, to make it big in the motorsports industry.
We are profoundly grateful to our sponsors and partners. Your support is the cornerstone of our success on and off the track. Thank you!
The IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge is a multi-class sprint racing series debuting in 2023. The lead LMP3 class features entry-level, closed-cockpit prototype race cars, while the production-based GSX class will utilize race cars built to international GT4 technical regulations. Each of the six event weekends on the 2024 VP Racing SportsCar Challenge schedule will include a pair of 45-minute sprint races, and drivers must be rated either Bronze or Silver on the FIA Driver Categorization List.
