Canadian and American events on the docket for M1 GT Racing
With renewed focus and energy for the 2019 racing season, M1 GT Racing is headed back to a track near you. Set to compete in several series, and exploring options to compete in a few others, the Audi Sport customer racing program will be aiming for the top step of the podium in each and every wheel-to-wheel competition. Already confirmed to enter the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC), additional Canadian and American events are expected to be announced in the very near future.
“2018 was a bit of a changing year for us,” explained Remi Lanteigne. “2019 will provide a secure program in which M1 GT Racing and Audi will return to the track with a vengeance. We have a solid working relationship with Audi Canada towards specific goals to provide a great racing environment in one of the world’s most recognized brands. As previously announced, we will be competing in the CTCC program with three Audi TCR cars, two of which we will have drivers confirmed with announcements on the horizon. We still have one open seat available.”
Additionally, M1 GT Racing is exploring the options and looking to enter the final two TCR events at Road America and Watkins Glen in the TC America program organized by the Blancpain GT World Challenge. With the opportunity of a full calendar, M1 GT Racing has plans to enter the TCR class during the IMSA event at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in July as well as test the Audi R8 GT3 LMS throughout Canada during the summer months.
Lanteigne continued, “We have multiple affordable driving opportunities available. For American drivers looking to compete in Canada, the dollar is in their favor, basically offering a 30% discount. If our GT3 testing goes according to plan, we may also look at events such as the 24 Hours of COTA and other events later in 2019.”
As one of the most professional teams in sports car racing, M1 GT Racing is continuing their relationship with Audi and their Audi Sport customer racing efforts. Furthermore, M1 GT Racing is also linked with Audi Canada, providing unparalleled trackside support, online promotion and working towards common goals.
