A pair of Audis set to run out of the M1 GT stable
Shifting their focus halfway through the 2018 season, M1 GT Racing is set to make their comeback this weekend at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières (GP3R). Taking part in the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) during the NASCAR weekend in the province of Quebec, M1 GT Racing will enter a pair of Audi RS3 LMS machines in their quest for race wins and podium results.
“We had to make some changes in our 2018 program but are ready to attack the rest of the season and onwards into 2019,” expressed M1 GT Racing Co-Owner Remi Lanteigne. “We are continuing our relationship with Audi Sport customer racing as well as a new program with Audi Canada on their exciting plans that they have for the future.”
Taking on the legendary street course, M1 GT Racing and the CTCC will join the NASCAR Pinty Series, Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Canada Challenge, the Nissan Micra Cup and the Formula Tour 1600 programs. Utilizing the same Audi RS3 LMS that will be run in the TCR program south of the border, M1 GT Racing is excited about the future opportunities that have come to fruition.
Lanteigne continued, “We have been working very closely with Audi Canada to put together an exciting program north of the border. We have overhauled the M1 GT Racing transporter to increase work space as well as organization and have completely gone through our Audi R8 GT3 LMS for events that we should have confirmed and announced in the very near future. We are continuing to put the final pieces in place for our 2019 program which will see us compete at several series across North America on a regular basis. We may have been out of competition for a few months, but we never slowed down.”
Competing in Canada has its benefits as the American dollar is superior to Canadian currency at this point in time and new racing programs open doors to new marketing partners. Joining M1 GT Racing this weekend will be ‘O Quai des Brasseurs’, a local brewery charmed by a splendid view of the St. Lawrence River. As a micro brewery that serves beer, O Quai des Brasseurs also has a wide range of appetizers and entrees that can be enjoyed on a large terrace with dynamic staff, excellent house beers, gourmet and refined dishes, a rustic decor and a relaxed atmosphere.
M1 GT Racing will take to the GP3R facility this weekend for practice beginning on Friday morning. Wheel-to-wheel competition will start on Saturday and end on Sunday. Stay tuned to M1 GT Racing social media pages for up-to-date news, results, photos and information throughout the weekend.
