Finale event set for this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Brooksville, Florida – With the first season of competition almost under their belts with the new Audi R8 LMS, M1 GT Racing will travel from their Florida home across the country to Monterrey, California to compete in the final round of the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) SprintX program. Taking place at the famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Dion von Moltke and David Ostella will pilot the M1 GT Racing Audi R8 in their quest for both a team and driver championship.
“We are coming off a great test at NOLA Motorsports Park and are excited to get on track in California,” explained Remi Lanteigne, Technical Director for M1 GT Racing. “We have had a great season so far as a team but we want to close it out strong. We are fortunate enough to have drivers in the championship hunt as well as be in the battle for the team championship.”
Coming off a strong second place finish at the Utah Motorsports Campus and completing a great test at the NOLA Motorsports park facility last week, M1 GT Racing is riding high heading into Laguna.
Lanteigne continued, “The entry list has doubled in size from previous rounds and it is good to see the PWC SprintX program growing. I would like nothing more to close the season out with a win and if all the cards fall in our favor, we may be able to secure a pair of championships as well.”
With a slight driver change for the final event of the 2016 season, von Moltke and Ostella will compete in both races this coming weekend while Walt Bowlin will be on site to assist with the M1 GT Racing squad.
With on track action beginning Thursday during a promoter’s test day, official practice will take place on Friday with qualifying that afternoon. Wheel-to-wheel competition will commence Saturday morning with the first of two official race days.
