Hong Kong - September was a busy month for Maxx Ebenal as he competed in both the FIA China F4 Championship as well as the Asian Formula Renault 2.0 Championship.
After missing a few rounds in the China F4 championship, The Beijing Manthey Team driver showed his skill by taking two wins and pole position in Shanghai at the formula 1 circuit. "Even though this was my first time racing the f4 car in the rain, there is ALWAYS a smile on my face when the skies open up and pour down rain on race day." Maxx says, "It reminds me of home and driving in the snowy and icy conditions."
One week later, Maxx was on a plane to Zhuhai to challenge the championship leaders in the Asian Formula Renault Championship. Scoring a perfect weekend with two pole positions, two wins, and both fastest race laps, Maxx moves up to 2nd in the championship points standings.
Maxx had a poor start and dropped one position in race #1. Later that lap, he was able to regain the leading position by making a risky pass on the outside of turn 9. Ebenal immediately pulled away and was able to finish the race in 1st place with a 15 second lead.
Race #2 was slightly more eventful having a safety car brought out with 6 laps to go as Maxx was leading the race. Despite losing the gap due to the safety car, Maxx was able to get a clean restart, didn't look back, and record his second win of the weekend.
"I was a little bit nervous before the race, as I knew Josh would be close the whole race. I received some valuable advice from my coaches Philippe and Pierre the previous weekend regarding leading races, and I was able to put that advice into practice this race, and take the win for my sponsors BRM Chronographes and Air Canada Hong Kong." says Ebenal.
Philippe Descombes, team boss of Asia Racing Team commented on the results. "Maxx came to me two years ago looking to race, and I didn't know what to expect. I have watched him closely over the past years, and I am impressed with his commitment to the sport, as well as his rapid improvement. I am very happy with the results thus far, and look forward to having Maxx finish the season off with us."
Ebenal will conclude the racing season at the end of October with the final rounds of Asian Formula Renault scheduled October 29-30, support race for Asian Lemans in Zhuhai.
