Wrap up and qualifying summary for Saturday at the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
Continental Sports Car Challenge – Race 150 minutes
Scott Maxwell and Billy Johnson run a clean race ahead of the field to place the Multimatic Motorsports #15 Ford Shelby GT350R-C on the top step of the podium in the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Daniel Burkett (Winnipeg, MB) and Marc Miller brought the CJ Wilson Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 home in second after a ferocious race-long battle with the C360R #76 GT350R-C (Holton, Kleinubing). The two cars were often separated by less than a second, with the C360R Shelby eventually settling for third.
In ST James Vance had a storming race in the Mini after qualifying 7th. Vance dropped back a couple of places off the start after his row got backed up, but fought his way through the field getting up to 2nd when he turned the car over to team mate Ethan Low. Unfortunately Low ran off in turn 5a and slipped down the field, eventually finishing 20th. Remo Ruscitti, the other Canadian in the ST class took the second stint and worked his way up to 8th at the finish.
