Oschersleben, Germany – A regular German Formula 4 weekend is made of a first day where drivers enter free trial and qualifying sessions, a second day with a first race and a third and last, on Sunday, with two other races.

Sunday is the only day that Kami Laliberté has in bank to leave the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena with some precious points, following the difficult first two days that were the Friday 17 and Saturday June 18. But it will not be an easy job for the young Montrealer who will have to start at the rear of the grid for the two scheduled races.

During free trials on Friday, Laliberté was trying to record fast times when he lost control and severely damaged his single-seater

‘’I must thank my team who managed to do the repairs within 90 minutes and give me the chance to enter qualifying’’, explained the Canadian. At the end of the qualifying session ran under the rain, the Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) driver was 9th of his group and therefore was awarded the 18e position on the Saturday race starting grid. ‘’Even if the team had done a good job with the repair, my car had suffered during the free trials. We have been able to measure them during the Saturday morning free pratice when we found a problem with the steering rack’’, added the driver.

Came the Saturday afternoon race, Laliberté had a good start but in the first lap, in the difficult first corner of the Oschersleben track, he was involved in an accident and had to retire, ‘’It’s a shame. After my good start, I had a legitimate objective of moving forward and gain positions. Now, I think we must concentrate in having the car in its best shape for tomorrow and get set mentally in order to have a better day. I would like to conclude this halfseason on a good note with a good gain of points’’, hopes the car number 35 driver.

Tomorrow, Laliberté will start the second race of the weekend program from the 26th place on the grid, since the stewarts have been assessing him a 10-place penalty, following the incident of today’s race. The first start is scheduled for 9:40 a.m. (3:40 a.m. ET).

The third and last race of the weekend will be disputed at the end of the day and this time, because of his Saturday’s result, the driver will start from the back of the grid. This last race is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. (11:15 p.m. ET). ‘’I never had to start from such a distant position so far this season. I will have to go on track with a much different strategy. Even if the race has only 18 laps, a mix of patience and just enough boldness when possible should help me get good results’’, concluded the driver.
