Zeewolde, The Netherlands – The thirty-five promising young drivers competing in the 8-event German Formula 4 German championship, including Montréal-born Kami Laliberté are reaching this weekend their mid-season mark.
On the occasion, they will return to the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena, the fast course located in the eastern part of Germany where last April, they gathered for the first three races of the year. For the Canadian, this weekend is one of reunion with the 3.696 kilometre course where he experienced a Formula 4 race weekend last year, successful trials prior to the current season and a first career Top-10 recorded last April 17.
‘’I must admit that now I know very well Oschersleben. It’s a course that I enjoy and I wish that this time I will enjoy a little more luck than at the beginning of the year will help me in my quest for success. I know that once again my team, Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) will give me a good car and that I should be among the fastest when I’ll hit the track on Friday. I’m quite confident that free trials and qualifying should be fine. But comes Saturday, I intend to manage my races in such a way that I will get the results and the points that I need. In Pau (France) at an event not included in our championship and the last time on track at the Lausitzring, I recorded podium finishes and I would like to repeat as often as possible. My knowledge of the track is something I must take advantage of in establishing a race strategy for this weekend’’, said the Canadian who in his first German Formula 4 full season, is currently 8th in the standings.
Laliberté will challenge the 14 corners of the track located some 125 kilometres north-east of Liepzig first in free trials and qualifying on this Friday, June 17. The first race of the weekend program is scheduled for 5:20 p.m. Local time (11:20 a.m. ET) on Saturday June 18 while race 2 and 3 are respectively scheduled for 9:40 a.m. (3:40 a.m. ET) and 5:15 p.m. (11:15 a.m. ET) on Sunday June 19.
Following the three days spent in Oschersleben, the German championship drivers will pause for a complete month before returning to action for their 5th round at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, on July 22. Kami Laliberté will still be active since four days of practice have been scheduled for the young Montréal-born driver : at the legendary Nürburgring on July 5 and 6 and at the series next stop, the Austrian Red Bull Ring, July 11 and 12.
