Hockenheim: The start of the season is fast approaching. On Friday, the Mercedes-AMG DTM Team brought the curtain down on the final week of testing before the start of the season at Hockenheim. Paul Di Resta, Gary Paffett, Christian Vietoris and Robert Wickens were again in action, as on the previous day. In addition, Daniel Juncadella completed yet another tyre test for Hankook during the afternoon.
The four Mercedes-AMG DTM drivers covered 437 laps of the 4.574-kilometre Hockenheim circuit on the final day of testing. The drivers notched up 7,885 km in total (1,724 laps) over the four days in their Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM cars.
The eight Mercedes-AMG DTM drivers will next be in action on Friday 6 May during the season-opening weekend of the 2016 DTM season when a home race for Mercedes-Benz is on the programme at Hockenheim.
Robert Wickens:
"A bit of mixed day for me. The afternoon was very productive, but unfortunately we weren't able to do much driving in the morning. After lunch, however, we were able to complete a lot of our programme, and our pace is looking good. I think we are in good shape for the start of the season."
Christian Vietoris:
"This was a difficult day. I wasn't able to put in all that many laps in the morning due to a technical problem. In the afternoon, though, I was able to accomplish a lot more. Overall, it was good to at last get back in the car. Now I'm looking forward to the first race here at Hockenheim."
Ulrich Fritz, Head of Mercedes-AMG DTM:
"We are pleased with the test overall. Not everything went to plan with Daniel Juncadella's crash on Wednesday and today's two technical problems, but even that is just part and parcel of testing. We have still got plenty to do before the season opener in Hockenheim, but we will see where we stand after the first qualifying."
