BGR is pleased to announce the addition of 2015 F1200 Challenge Cup Champion Matt Garwood
Elmvale, Ontario – 2015 Formula 1200 Challenge Cup Series Champion Matt Garwood (MGR) and 2015 Toyo Tires Formula 1600 Series Team Champions Brian Graham Racing (BGR) are proud to announce a new partnership for the 2016 racing season.
While Garwood has his sights set on earning back-to-back Formula 1200 Challenge Cup Series Championship titles Garwood will participate in select test events for the team in their Piper DL7/Quicksilver Honda with the hope of competing in an event near the end of the 2016 F1600 Championship season.
This new partnership will enable Garwood to strengthen his knowledge and skills within formula car racing. BGR is a proven winning race team and with the guidance of Brian Graham and his team, Garwood is set for an exciting 2016 racing season.
Over the past six years Garwood and MGR have had many accomplishments to be proud of racking up four Karting Championships, the 2012 Formula 1200 Rookie of the year award recipient, the 2015 Formula 1200 Challenge Cup Series Championship and the most recent recipient of the BARC Sterling Moss Most Successful Driver of 2015 Award.
"I am looking forward to having Matt Garwood as part of our BGR team in 2016. Matt has showed us his dedication and determination on and off the track and feel he will be a great addition to our team of young drivers for 2016. BGR has a history of strong rookie drivers and I am sure Matt will make the most of his opportunities this coming season." comments team owner Brian Graham.
“This is a special year for my racing program as 2016 will be my 5th consecutive season competing in Canadian open wheel racing. I am proud to partner with a top-notch professional Formula 1600 team like Brian Graham Racing. This will be another new and exciting challenge but I strive to learn as much as possible while representing BGR to the best of my abilities. I am also looking forward to competing for a second consecutive Formula 1200 Challenge Cup Series Championship here in Canada and in the U.S.” Said Matt Garwood
BGR is the reigning Toyo Tires Champion and is coming off a very strong season with wins in both Canadian Pro Series with multiple drivers. The 2016 season has started out in great fashion with a win at the recent SCCA Majors Tour at Sebring with Peter Dempsey. With a full winter program to prepare for the upcoming Canadian racing season, BGR is hard at work as they look to repeat as Champions and provide their drivers with all the tools necessary to be successful.
BGR is the Canadian distributor for Piper Racecars and is a factory-supported team of the popular chassis, which is built in California, USA. The all-new Piper DL7 debuted with immediate success and grabbed its first win at CTMP winning the Al Craighead CanAm Cup.
BGR has put more drivers in the winner’s circle than any other team in OFFC history and has an incredible run winning the Rookie of the Year 9 of the last 10 years. With an alumni list that boasts drivers who have gone on to Championships all over North America to several starters in the Indy 500, BGR is well known as the place to begin a career in open wheel racing.
Matt Garwood is proud to represent: FEL (Franczak Enterprises Ltd.) Vallis Motor Sport, Driverseat Barrie, The Automotive Business School of Canada, KarmaComa Studio, Core Evolution Fitness, Athletes Brand, Autoglym Canada, Leaf Racewear, Driven Steering Wheels, VOODOOAIR™ and Millers Oils.
