A new points structure and weekend schedule are on tap for the Toyo Tire F1600 Series for 2016.

This past Saturday, the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship met to hand out some awards, and talk about next season. Jason Sharpe of Move Motorsports Management handed out the awards and talked about the coming season, schedule and sponsros, while Stephen Adams discussed the some of the changes for the upcoming season, including a new points structure and weekend schedule

*Shannonville CTCC Event tentatively added to the schedule - With the DAC Shannonville event of Jul 9-10 being removed from the calendar, the Series is looking to join the F1200 championship the following weekend at the Shannonville race, in conjunction with the Canadian Touring car Championship on July 16-17, is tentatively on this years schedule.

2) Jun 17-19 - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
3) Jul 16-17 - Shannonville Motorsport Park**
4) Jul 30-31 - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Saturday
1) Practice
2) Qualifying
3) Race 1 - grid set from qualifying

Sunday
1) Warm Up
2) Race 2 (a.m.) - Grid set by fastest lap from Race 1 or 2nd fastest lap in qualifying
3) Race 3 (p.m.) - Grid set by fastest lap from race 2

 

*New Points Format

1) Points awarded for all 3 races per event, to 15th position
2) 1 point for pole position in each race
3) 1 point awarded each race to every driver that leads a lap
4) 2 drops allowed from the 18 race season

 

*New A Class/B Class Eligibility Criteria

A Class
1) As per 2015, with the addition that all Honda Powered cars being in A Class, regardless of chassis manufacture date

B Class
1) Cars that have been altered and/or updated to later specs MAY be classified as A Class cars
2) Eligibility of modifications will be at the discretion of the Steering Committee
