The Ontario 1500 Motorsport Adventure takes place from September 13 to 20
Toronto, Ontario - An exciting new motorsport event was announced today by the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs, Ontario Region (CASC-OR). Called the "Ontario 1500 Motorsport Adventure" , the event is for up to 60 teams, each team being of from 2 to 4 drivers, who will share a street legal sports / performance car.
Taking place over 7 consecutive days the teams will test their skills at Ontario's great Road Race tracks and Drag Strips. Visiting the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Calabogie Motorsport Park, Shannonville Motorsport Park, the Picton Airport, the Toronto Motorsport Park, the Grand Bend Motorplex and ending back at the CTMP, the teams will be challenged by 8 Time Attack, 4 Autoslalom and 2 Drag Race event stages.
Chuck Atkins, a member of the CASC-OR Board of Directors and Head of the Ontario Time Attack division says, "this will be an experience for competitors to remember. It has never been done before in Ontario and promises to point a spotlight on the excellent motorsport facilities here." Chuck is also a member of the event organizing committee as is Perry Rautanen.
Perry adds, "Many of the CASC-OR member clubs will assist in running the event, including the Subaru Performance Drivers Association (SPDA), Toronto Autosport Club (TAC), Motorsport Club of Ottawa (MCO) and my club the Oshawa Motor Sport Club (OMSC). These are organizations dedicated to helping Ontario motorsport enthusiasts to enjoy their sport in a safe, legal, fun way."
Perry Iannuzzi, President of CASC-OR adds, "CASC-OR offers a ladder system where drivers can learn autosport skills at an Autoslalom event, move on to Ice Racing, Rallying or Time Attack and ultimately advance to wheel to wheel competition in our Race division. The Ontario 1500 Motorsport Adventure is both another rung on the ladder as well as a great way to let people across the province learn all about CASC-OR."
"The event will be capped at 60 teams plus press cars", says Gary Wood, another event organizer, "and it is possible to reserve a spot now by registering and paying a small deposit to hold your spot. Go to www.ontario1500.ca to learn about all of the news, rules, schedules and to sign up."
Organizer Scott Murfin confirmed that "there is a car class for ever car, whether stock or modified so long as it is legal for use on Ontario roads. We will especially recognize cars that are made in Canada with their own awards."
Drivers must be 18 years of age and hold a valid Driver's License. Those driving in the Time Attack stages of the event must also have successfully completed at least 2 recognized High Performance Driving Schools, like those offered by the CASC-OR.
Championship Canadian race drivers Lee Bentham and David Empringham, both from Ontario, will team up to participate in the event. Lee said "I have certainly never experienced anything like this but it sounds like it could be a blast!."
The Event organizers have also confirmed that there will be a $1000 donation made to one charity in a community that is local to each track, for a total of $6000 in total. "We want to be able to give back something to support those in need" said Wood about the donations.
The event will take place from Sept 13 to 20, 2015, leaving ample time for enthusiasts across North America to prepare. This inaugural event promises to be a truly memorable one. Don't miss out, get involved today.
