Pole in the NASCAR Truck Series, a CTCC Grand Touring Class Win and a second row start in the Canadian Tire Series for Alex Tagliani
Montreal, Quebec - Alex Tagliani will lead the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) field on Sunday's main event at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) in Bowmanville, Ontario. On his last run of the day, Tagliani drove the No. 29 Brad Keselowski Racing Cooper Standard Ford F-150 at a blistering pace around the 3.957-km track to set a series track record time of 1 minute 20.084 seconds, edging rookie Erik Jones by a mere 0.034 seconds. This is Tagliani's second consecutive NCWTS record-setting pole at the CTMP road course.
Canadian cable subscribers of FOXSR, formally known as SPEED TV, can watch the race live on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Pre-race show starts at 1:00 p.m.
Tagliani wins CTCC Grand Touring Class
Tagliani won the Grand Touring Class in Round 11 of the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) held Saturday afternoon. Driving the No. 75 Fast Wheels Ford Mustang Boss 302, Tag crossed the finish line 45 second ahead of the BMW M3 of his nearest GT class rival, Pascal Carré of Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Glenn Chaplin, Tagliani's teammate, finished third in class. Tagliani and the other Super Touring, Grand Touring and Touring Class drivers will return to the track Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m. for their second race of the weekend.
Tag to start on second row in Canadian Tire Series Race
Stepping down from CTCC podium, Tag was ready for the lone qualifying session that would set the grid for Round 10 of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS). Switching to his No. 18 EpiPen/CGI/CanTorque Chevrolet, the Terrebonne, Quebec driver took fourth spot negotiating the 11-turn road course in 1 minute 23,939 seconds. Andrew Ranger will start from the pole next to Kevin Lacroix. Tag will share the second row with Jeff Lapcevich, third quickest on the day.
Green flag for the NCATS Pinty's present the Clarington 200 51-lap race will be dropped at 10:05 a.m. Sunday
On Sunday, Tagliani will start his day at 8:45 a.m. for the second CTCC race of the weekend, and at 10:05 a.m., will switch from the Mustang to his Chevrolet to race in the NCATS Pinty's present the Clarington 200 51-lap race. Following lunch, Tagliani will climb aboard his Ford F-150 truck to compete in the NASCAR Truck Series Chevrolet Silverado 250, a 64-lap race that can be viewed live on the FOXSR network at 1:30 p.m.
This weekend, all vehicles driven by Tag will display a Justin Wilson logo to commemorate the life of his former racing teammate who was tragically killed last weekend at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.
