Touge Tuning joins strong group of firms supporting GS-class WRX STi's in 2014
Toronto, Ontario - Hot on the heels of a very successful CHIN Motorsports-run test at Sebring International Raceway this past weekend, Compass360 Racing (C360R) released details of the technical partners that has helped the team continue its development of their GS-class Subaru WRX STi's over the past few months.
Touge Tuning is arguably Canada's leading provider of aftermarket parts and fitment to the Subaru enthusiast, and will be supporting the team throughout the coming season. "It's a real honour to be involved with a team like C360R," remarked Touge Tuning President Chris Richardson. "We're well-known in the Time Attack and regional racing world, and our involvement with CTSCC opens a lot more doors for us, plus we bring some new brands to the table for the team."
A strong schedule of cross-promotion work is planned for this year, starting with a presence at the Canadian Motorsports Expo February 7-9, as well as Subaru corrals at two Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport) pro events: World Challenge May 16-18 and IMSA July 11-12. "I've known Chris for many years, and have been impressed with what he's built at Touge," noted Karl Thomson, C360R Team Principal. "Our programs nicely complement each other and we are excited to use our CTSCC team as a platform to grow awareness of the great work Touge Tuning does, serving customers right across the country."
Toronto-based Ultimate Racing has been a valued partner of the C360R Honda ST-class program for many years, providing exhaust and tuning assistance. One of Toronto's top import tuners, Ultimate has been a key partner in the development work undertaken since August. "It's nice to finally be able to bring our Subaru expertise to the Compass360 guys," enthused Johnson Lii of Ultimate. "When we heard this car was an option for the team, we encouraged them to go for it. We've had a lot of experience on the rally side here in Canada that has a lot of value for the sports car program."
Other long-term partners have also increased their support of the team. California's Stoptech Brakes, who make the HPD calipers and rotors for the WC-spec Hondas, is responsible for the braking system on the Subaru. RAYS Wheels, from Japan, will be supplying their industry-leading forged rims for the WRX, as they do for the Civics. Engine builds are handled by Gord Bush, in Toronto, another long-standing team partner.
"Back in August when we started with the Subarus, we assembled a top-flight collection of partners," said Technical Director Ray Lee. "The Subaru is not a simple car, but when all the pieces work together properly, it's a really great and reliable one, as the test at Sebring this past weekend showed. We've put a lot of work into these cars since August, and we're now seeing the result of that."
C360R's next outing is the Roar Before the 24 test days at Daytona International Speedway, January 3-5, 2014.
