The DTM is contesting the second race weekend of the season at the Lausitzring this weekend. Pascal Wehrlein (gooix Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) crossed the finish line as best-placed Mercedes-AMG DTM driver in the first of this weekend's two races. The winner of last year's race at the Lausitzring finished the third race of the season in fifth place.

Two more Mercedes-AMG DTM drivers - Robert Wickens (SILBERPFEIL Energy Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) and Daniel Juncadella (PETRONAS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) - finished in the Top Ten. Canadian driver Wickens was sixth, while Juncadella took the chequered flag in P10.

Paul Di Resta (Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) and Maximilian Götz (Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) crossed the finish line in P14 and P15 respectively. Christian Vietoris (Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM), Lucas Auer (BWT Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) and Gary Paffett (EURONICS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) finished the first of this weekend's two races in positions 17, 21 and 23.

Looking ahead to race 2: Qualifying for the second race of the weekend at the Lausitzring will take place on Sunday at 11:40 (live stream on www.sportschau.de). The race will start at 14:23 - ARD live broadcast from 14:00 onwards. In accordance with the regulations, the race will last 60 minutes plus one lap and include a mandatory pit stop with tyre change, unlike in the first race of the weekend.

Comments after the Race:

Robert Wickens (26, Canada):
P6
Car number: 6
Team: SILBERPFEIL Energy Mercedes-AMG (Mercedes-AMG DTM Team HWA)
Car: SILBERPFEIL Energy Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM

"Sixth is OK. After all, I finished where I started. My start was very good, but unfortunately, I got stuck on the outside in Turn 1. I thought that would be smarter than to go wide on the outside, as I might have ended up in the grass otherwise. A points-scoring result is strong. Of course, I always want more. Hopefully, I can achieve that tomorrow."

Pascal Wehrlein (20, Germany):
P5
Car number: 94
Team: gooix/Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG (Mercedes-AMG DTM Team HWA)
Car: gooix Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM

"Unfortunately, my start wasn't very good, which cost me several positions and spoilt my race to some extent, because my race pace was otherwise really good. But because of my poor start, I first had to regain the lost positions. When we get involved in overtaking battles, we're not able to show our optimum pace. Towards the end, I was able to close the gap on the Audis, but all in all, I'm not quite satisfied with this race. It should have been possible to achieve more."

Ulrich Fritz, Head of Mercedes DTM:

"Unfortunately, the start was not terrific, causing Pascal and Robert to drop several positions down the field, but they both fought back and were able at least to reclaim their original positions. The result is, of course, unsatisfactory. Sadly, more was not possible today. We will now just have to see where we can improve for tomorrow."
