Waterloo, Ontario – This past weekend marked a successful start to the 2015 season for Toyo Tires Formula 1600 driver Amy Castell, 19, of Waterloo, Ont.

The weekend was a star-studded event with drivers from the Toyo Tires Formula 1600 Championship, NASCAR Canadian Tire15052001b Series, Pirelli World Challenge, Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire, Canadian SuperCar Series, and the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin.

The double-header weekend started on Saturday with a second place qualifying for the #95 driver of the 1990 Reynard SF90 in the B Class championship. After falling back to fourth position, Castell fought back to the second place position before a racing incident that would end the race early.

Qualifying on Sunday would start Castell from the fourth place on the grid. Fighting through minor mechanical issues, Castell worked to the third position and noticeably caught the 1st and 2nd cars. After avoiding a racing incident, Castell lost touch of the first two cars and would nurse her #95 Reynard to the finish line in third place.

“This was an amazing start to the 2015 season. Every single session we were getting closer to the front-running cars and laying down competitive lap times,” commented Castell. “I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season will bring!”

Amy Castell is supported by Landmark Cinemas Canada, Castrol Canada, Bell Racing USA, Leaf Racewear, and Performance Physixx.
