Barrie, Ontario – After an incredibly busy off-season Elmvale Ontario’s Matt Garwood is ready to get back to the business racing at this weekend’s opening round of the 2015 Millers Oils Formula 1200 Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

When not behind the wheel of his Vallis Motor Sport prepared Formula 1200 car, Garwood is a fulltime student at The Automotive Business School Powered by Georgian College and a Student Director of Performance & Sponsorship Georgian College Auto Show.

This past winter, his passion for the Automotive Industry has provided him with opportunities to work promotional events with Honda and Acura and has taken him across the border to the US with the Auto Show team to promote the student-run Georgian Auto Show at the Detroit Auto Show in Michigan. After a great experience attending the Detroit Auto Show Garwood, along with a group of equally passionate race fans then headed to Daytona Beach, Florida for the legendary Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. While there Garwood provided onsite updates for RaceCanada.ca.

Garwood also had the opportunity to work for Chrysler Canada as a product ambassador at the Canadian International Autoshow as well as representing the Automotive Business School of Canada, the Georgian College Auto Show and the Millers Oils Formula 1200 Championship at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo as well as being a panelist and a mediator at this show.

Not one to turn down an opportunity to get behind the wheel Garwood tried his hand at ice racing for the first time at the Fairgrounds in Minden, Ontario as part of the 2015 CASC-OR Magnum Ice Race Championship Presented by Mobil1.

After his Rookie experience as an ice racer the 19 year old was once again off to represent The Automotive Business School of Canada. He travelled to the Maritimes for the Nova Scotia Automotive Dealers Association CADEX Conference and then headed west to Calgary as an operations assistant for a Volkswagen sales training event.

As much as Garwood enjoyed his busy off-season he can’t wait to kick off the Formula 1200 season this weekend, May 2 & 3 at the legendary Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, located east of Toronto, Ontario.

Fans that are trackside this weekend will get to see Garwood’s new livery on his #31 Vallis Motor Sport prepared car.

Garwood is proud to represent; FEL (Franczak Enterprises Ltd.) Vallis Motor Sport, Athletes Brand and Autoglym Canada and is also proud to be "Laps for Muscular Dystrophy" (Laps4MD) driver where he has pledged to donate $1 for every lap he leads to Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
