Brian Graham Racing (BGR) is pleased to announce 17 year old Ben Hurst will make his F1600 debut with the team for his rookie year. After a year in karting Ben is making the jump straight to cars with the BGR team. A relative newcomer to racing, Ben began just last season with karting and quickly made the decision that this was going to be his passion. A trip to the highly touted Bridgestone Racing School earned Ben his race licence. He spent some time with BGR in the fall as a guest at the season finale at CTMP to get to know the team. Fall testing at two different tracks with the BGR squad cemented Ben’s belief that this was indeed his new home.
“I am very happy to welcome Ben to our team, he is a very bright young guy and made the most of his two outings with us last fall. It will certainly be steep learning curve but we are confident he is up to the challenge. “ says team owner Brian Graham.
Ben is the first driver signed for the 2015 season and his teammates will be announced shortly. Ben will pilot one of the teams new Piper DL7/Honda’s and a busy pre-season testing program begins in early April. BGR is the Canadian factory team for the California built Piper Chassis. Quicksilver Race Engines provide power all of the BGR machines. With the arrival of the all new DL7 the team looks to contend for not only the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship but also compete in the full Quebec based Formula Tour 1600 Series.
“We are very excited about the upcoming season. After the delay in debuting our new car until basically the end of last season, we are now well positioned well with all brand new equipment and several other upgrades to our programs which will benefit our drivers. We have an aggressive pre-season planned and cannot wait for the season to begin.”
BGR has put more drivers in the winners circle than any other team in OFFC history and had a lock on the Rookie of the Year for 8 season in a row. With an alumni list that boasts drivers who have gone on to Championships all over North America to several starters in the Indy 500, BGR is well known as the place to begin a career in open wheel racing.
