Thorold, Ontario – It's nearing the end of August and young families from across Niagara are racing around getting ready to go back to school. Also a must to visit is when the Pen Centre presents a night of racing fun at Merrittville Speedway Saturday August 23rd when the Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Event will feature the finale of the David Chevrolet King of the Crates Series for the Rick's Delivery Sportsman Division and another TUSA Modified Lite Hoosier Tire Mr. Dirt Racing Series Tour Event.

"We have such a busy schedule set in our remaining events that the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinder Triple Crown Series Finale will join Brian's Tire Repair Night August 30th," informs (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, "and we have no other choice but to cancel our Top Dog Contest for this year."

"Merrittville had a few seasons completed when the Pen was built as an outside strip mall," remarks Bicknell-Jones, "today you'll find Your Style ... Your Fashion ... Your Mall!"

Going into the 40 lap $1,000 to win Gabe Bellante Memorial, 2012 King of the Crates Series Champion Cody McPherson leads Justin Sharp by ten points. Sharp won last year's finale. Austin Wood, James Friesen and Paul Gaboury round out the top 5.

McPherson took the David Chevrolet King of the Crates Series Opener on Baron Roofing & Siding Night June 7th and Round 2 on Tim Hortons Night August 2nd as well – two of his 5 wins to date in 2014.

In the TUSA Modified Lite Hoosier Mr. Dirt Racing Series Tour Western Regional Points, Paul Klager leads Derek Wagner by 7 points going into the tripleheader that also includes events at Ohsweken (August 22nd) and Humberstone (August 24th). Klager has two wins in the West with Jamie Gilbert adding one as well. Klager and Jeff May have been travelling to East Regional Events this season and in those Point Standings – Klager leads May by 6 points.

There are 2 more Eastern Regional Events on the schedule before the two series combine for the J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lite TUSA National Doubleheader powered by Rev's Full Throttle Powersports at Merrittville – Friday and Saturday September 5th and 6th,
