It was a tough weekend of racing for Team Turner.
Caistor Centre, Ontario - Team Turner Racing had a rough weekend with more than their share of bad luck last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Jamie Turner, Cory Turner, Ryan Turner, and Havard Daniels slogged through it, and they're looking forward to getting back on track this weekend.
FRIDAY, JULY 11 - OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY
A fast and tacky surface greeted Jamie, Cory, and Havard on Friday night at Ohsweken Speedway. None of the three had much luck though, as Jamie started 7th and finished 6th in his heat race, while Havard didn't finish his heat race due to engine problems, and Cory ended up 7th in his heat race after a penalty. Jamie 15th in the A-Feature, while Havard started 19th, and Cory 20th. Havard almost flipped early in the feature and damaged his suspension in the process, while Jamie advanced to finish 12th, and Cory finished 15th. Jamie is currently 10th in the Ohsweken Speedway 360 Sprint Car championship standings, while Cory is 13th, and leads the Rookie of the Year standings. Havard is up to 22nd, despite missing the first 4 races of the season.
SATURDAY, JULY 12 - MERRITTVILLE SPEEDWAY
Ryan returned to Merrittville on Saturday for the first time since his career-best 2nd place finish in the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature the week before. He wasn't able to repeat that performance though, as a 7th place start and 6th place finish in his heat race resulted in Ryan starting 18th in the feature event. Ryan had a rough night, but was able to finish the 25 lap feature, and advanced to finish 15th. He is now 12th in Merrittville's DIRTcar Sportsman Modified championship standings.
SATURDAY, JULY 12 - BRIGHTON SPEEDWAY
While Ryan was racing at Merrittville, Cory and Havard planned to race in a Southern Ontario Sprints tour event at Brighton Speedway. They discovered that Havard's car had suffered too much damage at Ohsweken on Friday night, and loaded up Jamie's car for the trip instead. Jamie started 14th in the Feature race, and had moved up to 7th in the first 4 laps before the power steering failed on his car, and he was forced to pull out of the race. Cory started 2nd in his heat race, but was caught up in a crash on the first lap. The crew went to work and replaced the complete front suspension. Cory started 20th in his repaired car, and moved forward to finish 13th in the Feature. Jamie is now 10th in the Southern Ontario Sprints championship standings, while Cory is 12th despite missing the July 5 event.
SUNDAY, JULY 13 - HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY
Ryan was ready for his second race of the weekend on Sunday, but the scheduled events at Humberstone Speedway were cancelled due to inclement weather. Ryan remains 10th in Humberstone's DIRTcar Sportsman Modified championship standings, and he's just 4 points behind 9th place driver Jordan Cosco.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Jamie, Cory, and Havard will be back racing their 360 Sprint Cars at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday, July 18, while Ryan will be back racing his DIRTcar Sportsman Modified at Merrittville Speedway on Saturday, July 19, and Humberstone Speedway on Sunday, July 20. A Team Turner Racing car will also be on display at the Silverdale Gun Club in St. Anns, Ontario this Saturday, July 19.
