Overheating brought an early end to a promising outing for the JSR/Soldier On team in Ottawa.
Mississauga, Ontario – JSR/Soldier On made gains in their second race of the season in the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series presented by Meineke at Capital City Speedway on July 5, 2014.
The team worked hard in the week leading up to the Summer Sizzler race, and were able to address a number of the issues that they experienced at the Flamboro race the week prior. With the race being at Johnathan Schwemler's home track, the JSR/Soldier On team took advantage of the opportunity to work with Paul DeJong's former CASCAR team in addition to the core JSR/Soldier On crew.
"We ended up using the drag strip and qualifying to diagnose a misfire in the engine, which meant that we started from the back at this race," commented Schwemler. "The car was significantly better over last week, and by the 15th lap of the race, we were racing for 7th place."
While the car was handling better, Schwemler still wanted to improve it if he could. The team took advantage of a mid-race caution to make some adjustments to the car. After the restart, the car began to experience overheating problems, and the team worked to resolve the problem and get the car back out on track. Unfortunately, the engine continued to overheat, and the team decided to park the car for the race.
"I'd like to congratulate Chad McGlynn on his first LOSC race win. He drove a great race."
"I'd also like to thank Todd Gow, Brian Goudge and the rest of the staff at Capital City Speedway for putting on the event, as well as Lincoln Electric, Darcy King of Royal LePage RCR Realty Brokerage, Nivek Holsteins, Lamorea Productions, and In The Pits Media for their support. It was a great pleasure to race in front of our friends, family and hometown fans."
JSR/Soldier On's next scheduled event is Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Flamboro Speedway for round 4 of the LOSC Championship.
