126 drivers signed in to race on O'Neil's Farm Equipment "SOS vs. Corr/Pak" night at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday night. Steve Collins, Brad Herron, Lee Winger, Mark Bazuin, and Max Chechalk visited Mobil 1 Victory Lane.
SOUTHERN ONTARIO SPRINTS VERSUS CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING 360 SPRINT CARS
Adam West and Mitch Brown started the 25 lap "SOS vs. Corr/Pak" challenge race on the front row, but Steve Collins got by both of them by the time the first lap was complete. Glenn Styres led the championship standings for both groups when the race began, and moved to the high side of the track looking to get to the front from the fourth row, but he went a bit too high and spun on lap 3.
Collins remained in the lead when the race restarted, while Styres worked to recover from his early miscue, and row 5 starter Shane Ross was on the move. Ross had moved to 5th by lap 5, and got around West for the 4th spot by lap 8. Collins opened a large lead over Brown as he worked through traffic, and went on to take his first career feature win in any type of racing division, with Brown settling for the runner-up spot. Ross and Chris Steele fought over the 3rd spot for several laps, with Ross finally getting by on lap 23, but he spun in turn 4 on the final lap, allowing Steele to finish 3rd. Kyle Patrick finished 4th, while Styres took a hard-fought 5th place finish.
Heat races for the 30 car field were claimed by Glenn Styres, Adam West, & Chris Steele, while Chris Jones won the B-Main.
STRICKLAND'S GMC CRATE SPRINT CARS
Kyle Durnin and Brad Herron started the Crate Sprint Car feature on the front row, and Durnin led the first 3 laps before Herron made what turned out to be the winning move. Durnin eventually fell out of the race with broken rear suspension, while Ryan Hunsinger and Aaron Turkey charged through the field to finish on the podium behind Herron. The win was Herron's first in the Crate Sprint Car division. Josh Shantz and Robbie General rounded out the top 5.
Heat races for the 11 car field were claimed by Brad Herron and Jake Brown.
AFFORDABLE TOWING & RECOVERY THUNDER STOCKS
Logan Shwedyk and Derek Liverance were the drivers scheduled to start the Thunder Stock feature on the front row. Ryan Beagle led the first two laps of the race before Dave Bitner, Jr. got by, but he only led one lap before Dave Bailey took the lead. Bailey was looking for his second win in two weeks, after he was credited with a win when Lee Winger's car did not pass technical inspection the week before.
Bailey's lead was short-lived though, as he spun in turn 4 and made contact with the inside wall. Lee Winger had moved through the field quickly from the 10th row, and took over the lead when the race restarted. He led the final 15 laps to take the feature win, while Karl Sault's bid for a win ended when his right front tire went flat on the last lap. Bryce Richardson crossed the finish line in the runner-up spot, but did not pass post-race technical inspection. Pete Reid was credited with the second place finish as a result, followed by Wyatt Van Wart, Dave Silverthorn, Jr., and Billy Bleich, Jr.
Heat races for the 38 car field were claimed by Ryan Beagle, Dave Bitner, Jr., Lee Winger, and Wyatt Van Wart, while Jonny Lowenberg won the B-Main.
HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS
Kathi Dickie and Chad Smelser started the Mini Stock feature on the front row, and Dickie led before Mark Bazuin and Tyler Lafantaisie got by, and raced wheel-to-wheel for the win. Bazuin won the duel, and his first Mini Stock feature, while Lafantaisie settled for the runner-up spot. Dickie, Robin Elliott, and Matt Nuell rounded out the top 5.
Heat races for the 30 car field were claimed by Kathi Dickie, Matt Nuell, and Brandon Janssens, while Brian Watson won the B-Main.
GALE'S AUTO AFTERMARKET BOMBERS
Dakota Potts and Tim Nuell started on the front row for the Bomber feature, but Max Chechalk charged through the field from 16th on the grid to take his third win of the season, followed by Gerald Burnham, Dusty DeBoer, Clinton Nicholls, and Patrick Abrahamsson.
Heat races for the 17 car field were claimed by Paul Longboat and Dusty DeBoer.
