After almost 30 years Bob St Amand Junior has left his position as Race Director at Merrittville Speedway.

Thorold, Ontario – Effective immediately, long-time Merrittville Speedway Race Director Bob St. Amand Junior has resigned from the position he has held since 1987.

"His decision came as quite a shock to us," said (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, "he's played a vital role in our Saturday Night show for almost 30 years ... in the coming events we will work towards finding the right individual to fill the role. On behalf of our staff ... race teams and fans we wish him all the best in future endeavours."

Until his passing 5 years ago, Bob St. Amand Senior and Junior were one of the only father-son Pit Steward/Race Director Teams around.

The St. Amand Family and their businesses have been long-time car owners, car and event sponsors and officials.

Bob Jr's St. Amand Auto & Truck Repair and his uncle Pat's L. St. Amand Enterprises will both continue to present the Bob St. Amand Memorial set for Monday August 4th in 2014.
