FRIDAY, JUNE 13
Friday the 13th wasn't bad luck for Styres/Hill's Racing at Ohsweken Speedway, as Glenn Styres won the 360 Sprint Car feature and set a new 20 lap track record, and Ryan Hunsinger won the Crate Sprint Car feature after starting 11th.
Jessica Zemken and Aaron Turkey also recorded top 5 finishes for the team on Friday, as "JZ" was 4th in the 360 Sprint Car feature, and Turkey was 4th in the Crate Sprint Car feature. Keith Dempster and Robbie General also competed for the team on Friday, with Dempster finishing 14th in the 360 Sprint Car feature, and General finishing 9th in the Crate Sprint Car feature.
Glenn Styres is now the championship points leader for the 360 Sprint Car division at Ohsweken, while Keith Dempster is 8th, and Jessica Zemken is 13th. Ryan Hunsinger has the championship points lead in the Crate Sprint Car division, with Aaron Turkey 5th, and Robbie General 6th.
SATURDAY, JUNE 14
Glenn Styres and Keith Dempster hit the road on Saturday night to compete in the Southern Ontario Sprints tour event at Brighton Speedway. Glenn entered the weekend with the SOS points lead, while Keith was tied for 4th.
Keith started the feature race in 4th, while Glenn started 7th. Both raced for the 4th spot with Tyler Rand, until Glenn passed both and looked to move to the front. Glenn was tracking down Justin Martin in 3rd place when he got off track in turn 1 and spun. Glenn recovered to finish 8th, while Keith finished 3rd.
SUNDAY, JUNE 15
Glenn Styres and Keith Dempster were back in action on Sunday night for another Southern Ontario Sprints tour event at Humberstone Speedway. Keith started 8th in the feature race, while Glenn had trouble in his heat race and had to start 18th in the feature.
Keith was caught up in a crash in the feature and finished 14th, but Glenn blasted through the field to finish 2nd. Glenn's quest to win a 5th Southern Ontario Sprints tour championship is well underway, with three top 5 finishes in the first four races.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Glenn Styres, Keith Dempster, and Jessica Zemken will be back in action this Friday, June 20 when the Patriot Sprint Tour visits Ohsweken Speedway to take on the track's Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car teams.
Robbie General and Aaron Turkey will be racing in the Strickland's GMC Crate Sprint Car division on Friday, June 20, while Ryan Hunsinger's status is up in the air. Ryan suffered burns due to a broken water line during a Can-Am Midget Series event at Peterborough Speedway on Saturday.
Alex Hill and Dylan Westbrook will be back in action with their 600cc Micro Sprints this Saturday at Paradise Speedway in Geneva, New York. Alex already has a feature win at Paradise this season, which came on April 19.
MESSAGE FROM JAMIE COLLARD
Styres/Hill's Racing team driver Jamie Collard and Pennsylvania's Duane Mausteller suffered serious injuries in a crash at Selinsgrove Speedway last month. Team members, fans, and friends of Jamie organized several fundraising activities recently to help the injured drivers and their families during the recovery process. Jamie shared the following message this week:
"I would like to give a big thank you to all the fans, the people who donated prizes, my race team and friends who sold tickets, and all the race teams and workers at Ohsweken Speedway who helped out with the injured driver raffle. My race team raised a huge amount of money that Duane, myself, and both our families will make great use of through this tough time. I've been talking to Duane Mausteller's father, and Duane has been healing very well and has been moving around, but he is still not awake yet. I have been getting better every day, and I am getting more mobile. It feels great to be getting back to the track these last two weeks with all my friends. Thank you everyone for all of your support, and I will see you all at the track very soon!" - Jamie Collard #7x
