Delaware, Ontario– Drivers from NASCAR Canada Series presented by Pinty’s and Evirum gathered at Delaware Speedway in Ontario on Sunday for the Delaware 200. Allrem Racing’s Steve Côté crossed the finish line in 8th place after a tough race.

The day started strong for Côté and Allrem Racing, as the driver posted the 6th fastest time in the practice session. Impressively, he held the top spot for more than half of the session before eventually slipping down the rankings.

Qualifying saw Côté nearly clinch the pole position. Driving the #29 Evirum/BKFC Chevrolet, he secured the 3rd fastest time, a mere 0.181 seconds behind the leader.

Unfortunately, the race itself proved more challenging than expected. Right from the start, Côté struggled to maintain his third position, losing ground to Andrew Ranger and eventually dropping to 5th place.

The first half of the race was interrupted by several cautions, requiring Côté to stay vigilant while balancing competitors in front and behind. This would have been manageable if not for brake issues that surfaced just 30 laps in.

“The brakes were overheating,” Côté explained after the race. “After each restart, we could push for about 20 laps, but then we lost braking power. For three-quarters of the race, we only had rear brakes.”

“It’s frustrating because we had a very fast car,” Côté added. At one point, while battling with Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, Côté spun out but quickly recovered, making an impressive charge back through the field.

After a mid-race restart, Côté found himself in 10th place, but fought his way back up to finish in 8th.

“We’ve been plagued by bad luck all season,” said Jonathan Côté, the Allrem Racing’s crew chief. “We need to figure out this issue before Montmagny because we’re determined to end the season on a high note. On the bright side, the car was fast today, and we’ll use that momentum for the next race.”

Steve Côté will return to the track for the NASCAR Canada Series presented by Pinty’s and Evirum season finale, at Autodrome Montmagny on September 22.
