Saint-Eustache, Quebec - The 2024 NASCAR Canada season is synonymous with change, as Kevin Lacroix announces a strategic partnership with Mathieu Kingsbury, who is at the helm of Duroking Autosport.
Kingsbury and Lacroix will form the new Innovation Auto Sport (IAS) team. Lacroix, true to form, will wear the number 74 and display the NAPA Auto Parts colours. While it may look like the same car, the organization behind it will undergo a major overhaul.
"We're very happy to be able to count on the undeniable expertise of Étienne Cliche, who has proven himself in NASCAR Cup racing in the United States," said Kevin Lacroix. "The team will certainly benefit from Cliche's skills, having evolved within the best NASCAR teams, notably 23XI Racing. He will therefore play a vital role at Innovation Auto Sport as the Chief Engineer on both of the team’s cars," added Mathieu Kinsgbury.
Lacroix went on to say that; "while we're delighted with this news, I can't overlook the excellent work of Don Thompson Jr. over the past seven years. He has always given us his all and more, and has been an integral part of our team. We wish him all the best for the future."
While this major news is already generating interest among enthusiasts, it's not the end of the story. Kevin Lacroix will be racing with a teammate this year. "I'm very happy about this partnership," said Kevin. "Being on the same team as this renowned driver is particularly motivating. We'll both have our eyes on the title, so it's going to be an action-packed season."
This high-profile teammate will be announced at a later date, however, Innovation Auto Sport is fuelling the rumours by indicating that it could be Alex Tagliani, Andrew Ranger, Alex Guénette, Jean-Philippe Bergeron, defending champion Treyten Lapcevich, Thomas Nepveu, Jacques Villeneuve, Kyle Steckly or Justin Arseneau.
The newly-formed team would like to invite fans to a friendly game of guessing who Lacroix's teammate will be. However, those already in the know are asked to refrain from commenting, as the team wishes to give sponsors the chance to make the announcement.
Innovation Autosport is also proud to be associated with young driver Raphaël Lessard, who will drive for the team at three events: Vallée-Jonction, ICAR and Montmagny. It will be the renowned team of Denis and Louis Larue who will look after Lessard's car, under the tutelage of IAS.
