Thorold, Ontario – Merrittville and Humberstone Speedway Mini Stock Competitor Evan Curtis is an Ontario Finalist in the Fast Eddie Racewear Search 4 Speed Contest and needs your vote.

"I heard about the Fast Eddie Search 4 Speed contest through Spenser Lewis and saw it on the Inside Track Motorsport News website," said Evan Curtis, "I entered as soon as I heard about it but never did I think I'd be a finalist out of all the Mini Stocks in Ontario."

 

"There was a lot of contestants," added the driver of the 2ez, "voting is going pretty well ... from what I hear I have been getting a lot of support from the local Niagara fans!"

 

Going into the final point events last season at Merrittville, Curtis was searching 4 speed especially in the Brian's Tire Repair Championship Chase Finale when he and competitor and friend Kyle Pelrine were tied after 17 events going in to the final night.

 

Unfortunately for Curtis an early end to his night saw the 5 time 2013 Merrittville Feature Winner end up in 4th spot.

 

"We're going to finish 4th aren't we," asked Curtis when interviewed by Co-Announcer Clint Geoffrey seconds after seeing his title hopes go away last September, "I didn't expect to do that well. We planned on testing and tuning the new car this year and get ready for 2014 but we had so much success with it – the season was beyond our expectations."

 

Curtis, 28 of Port Colborne currently sits in second place in the 2014 Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinder Points at Merrittville and won his first feature of the season this past Sunday at Humberstone.

 

"We are going to run as hard as we did last year," stated Curtis," keep the car and racing very clean and hope to have as much fun as we did last year."

Curtis has been racing Mini's for 9 years off and on and ran last year ran full time for points. Growing up, the second generation driver got hooked on dirt racing as his dad Baden is a former racer.

 

Earlier this season, Curtis helped one of the division's rookies with his search for speed after now 14 year old Alex Riley's Pete Bicknell Driving School misfortune in the former Tony Kelly # 12 built by Evan and his Dad.

 

"We can't thank Evan and Baden enough ... and everyone that helped us get the car back on the track," said Riley the Monsignor Clancy Grade 8 Student.
