Innisfil, Ontario – There is going to be lots of competition on-track at Sunset Speedway, as OSCAAR has confirmed the Pure Stock Summer Shootout will be added to the event on Sunday, August 8.
As previously announced, OSCAAR will be hosting their Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds and Knightworks Design OSCAAR Hot Rods at Sunset Speedway, with the event starting on August 8 at 2pm ET.
It will mark the third event of 2021 for the modifieds, as they look to replicate the magic from the pair of shows at Sunset in 2020 that saw competition and close racing throughout. Each race saw a different race winner, with Andy Kamrath winning the first one, followed by A.J. Emms in the second.
The Hot Rods will start off their year with back-to-back trips to Sunset, the first taking place on Sunday, July 25 with the modifieds and Ontario Super Late Model Series. Since their debut, the division has been known for close racing at Sunset with several drivers putting themselves in the conversation for the checkered flag. The September 2020 edition saw Tom Walters able to accomplish the feat.
The Pure Stock Summer Shootout added to the show on August 8 will be 40 laps long, utilizing qualifying heats and a consi race if needed to set the 24-car grid. For the drivers, it will pay $100 to start, and $500 to win.
Those interested in competing are encouraged to message Rich Schwartzenburg for more information and to pre-register for the event.
