Vallée-Jonction, Quebec – NASCAR Pinty’s driver Kevin Lacroix secured the second place during the Budweiser 300 at Autodrome Chaudière this Saturday, June 29. The Saint-Eustache native took back the lead of the Drivers' Championship, one point ahead of Andrew Ranger.
The Autodrome Chaudière is no longer Lacroix’s unlucky track as the driver of the car # 74 Bumper to Bumper / Total, Gates / PFC Brakes finished on the second step of the podium, behind rising star Raphael Lessard and in front of Alex Labbé.
"I am very happy with my result here, especially during our first race of the season in Québec," said Lacroix. “The race went very well, we were hoping for a Top 5, so finishing on the podium is excellent, both for the points and to convince myself that the Autodrome Chaudière is no longer an oval track that doesn’t suit me as in previous years. "
Kevin qualified 5th prior to the 300-lap event. "I was aiming for the Top 5 in qualifying, so I was very happy with my result. We tried the car at Autodrome Chaudière a few weeks ago in anticipation of this weekend's event, and clearly, we found the winning recipe in terms of the set up. "
The NASCAR Pinty's series attracts Canada's top drivers, and the championship is likely to be intense, with only 1 point separating Lacroix from the second. As we have seen from past seasons, anything can still happen. "To be at the top of the standings is fantastic, but stressful too, because I have to maintain this position. At this point, I have to be careful because I have everything to lose. The season is still young, but the goal is to stay in the lead. "
The Budweiser 300 will air on TSN on Saturday, July 6th at 2pm and on RDS2 on Monday, July 15th at 7pm. The NASCAR Pinty’s Series will take a few weeks off before arriving in the heart of Canada’s largest metropolis for the Pinty’s Grand Prix of Toronto live from the Streets of Exhibition Place. Toronto will be the host of the NASCAR Canadian series in addition to the IndyCar and other supporting series.
Kevin wants to thank his sponsors Bumper to Bumper, Total, Go Fast, PFC Brakes and Gates Corporation, a partnership between growing companies that represent excellence, ambition and victory.
