Caistor Centre, Ontario – Bad weather delayed the start of the Team Turner Racing season, but Ryan Turner was finally able to compete in his first
DIRTcar Sportsman Modified feature on Sunday, May 4 at Humberstone Speedway.

Jamie, Cory, and Ryan Turner originally planned to kick off their racing seasons at Merrittville Speedway's "Spring Sizzler" on April 26, but the event was cancelled due to rain and cold temperatures. Both Ryan and Cory have moved to new divisions this year after several seasons in Street Stocks, while their father Jamie is back in his 360 Sprint Car.

Jamie and Cory were ready to race in the opening event of the Patriot Sprint Tour season at Merrittville, while Ryan would have made his DIRTcar Sportsman Modified debut. Another rainout at Merrittville on Saturday, May 3 meant that track's 63rd season of racing will have to wait another week, and Ryan's first race of the season took place at Humberstone instead.

The DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds were scheduled to run a 55 lap feature on Sunday, in honour of Humberstone's 55th opening night, and a solid field of 22 cars were signed in. Ryan started 4th and finished 4th in his heat race, giving him a starting spot inside row 6 for the feature. Ryan drove his #91 Bicknell chassis up as far as 7th before getting over the cushion in turns 1 and 2. He eventually finished 13th in what turned out to be a green-to-checkered affair free of yellow flags.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Jamie, Cory, and Ryan will be on track at Ohsweken Speedway's Test & Tune night this Friday, May 9. Ryan will also race on Saturday, May 10 at Merrittville, and Sunday, May 11 at Humberstone. Jamie and Cory will start their seasons in Ohsweken's 19th annual opening night event on Friday, May 16.
