Ohsweken, Ontario - The Arrow Express Six Nations Showdown featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car series returns to Ohsweken Speedway on Tuesday, with NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne in competition.
Arrow Express is again the presenting sponsor of the Six Nations Showdown on Tuesday, July 26, which will feature the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car series, plus DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, and HRW Automotive Mini Stocks.
With 900+ horsepower 410 cubic inch engines and some of the best drivers in the world, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car series is the world’s premier winged Sprint Car series. The 2016 WoO schedule includes 93 events at 58 different tracks across 26 American states and one Canadian province. The tour’s visit to Ohsweken is preceded by Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and followed by events at Hartford, Michigan on Friday, and Wilmot, Wisconsin on Saturday. Tuesday's event at Ohsweken is also the only Canadian race on the 2016 schedule.
North Dakota’s Donny Schatz leads the WoO tour into Ohswken in search of his 8th series championship. Other drivers chasing WoO championship points this season include California driver Brad Sweet, Connecticut's David Gravel, Oklahoma drivers Daryn Pittman and Shane Stewart, Indiana’s Joey Saldana, Louisiana’s Jason Johnson, Tennessee drivers Paul McMahan and Jason Sides, and Pennsylvanians Logan Schuchart and Jacob Allen.
Along with Kahne who claimed a 410 Sprint Car win at Pennsylvania's Lincoln Speedway in March, several regional racers are expected to test their mettle against the traveling Outlaws, including Indiana driver Parker Price-Miller, Pennsylvania's Jared Zimbardi, and Ohioan Paige Polyak. Hometown drivers such as Alex Hill will also be on hand, and Hill will be making both her World of Outlaws and 410 Sprint Car debut.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car series has competed at Ohsweken on 10 occasions dating back to 2007. Last year's Six Nations Showdown was a thriller, as Stewart Friesen went to victory lane after a race which featured 5 lead changes. Jason Sides won the first World of Outlaws event at Ohsweken on July 25, 2007, and also recorded wins at Ohsweken in 2009 and 2010. Jason Meyers also won at Ohsweken in 2009, while Donny Schatz was a winner in 2010, 2013, and 2014, and Tony Stewart took the checkered flag in both 2011, and 2012.
The Six Nations Showdown also includes the only DIRTcar 358 Modified race at Ohsweken in 2016, and Twin 15 lap races for the HRW Automotive Mini Stocks.
The "Small Block" Modified race will pay the feature winner $1,500, and count towards the 358 Modified Mr. DIRTcar championship, which takes into account a driver’s best 16 finishes between January 1st and Labour Day. Points standings and other information on the Mr. DIRTcar championship is available at www.DIRTcar.com
Brandon Janssens holds a slim one point lead over Brandon Crumbie in the Mini Stock championship standings heading into Tuesday's unique Twin 15 event.
Racing will take the green flag at 7:30pm on Tuesday, July 26, preceded by time trials. Visit the official Ohsweken Speedway website at www.OhswekenSpeedway.com for ticket prices and more information.
