Six Nations, Ontario - Alex Hill is set to make her debut in both a 410 Sprint Car and in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car series. The Six Nations Showdown at Ohsweken Speedway will cap off a big week for Alex and her team at their home track.
The weekend will kick off for the "Six Nations Sensation" on Friday with Ohsweken's annual Christmas in July and Autograph Night. Alex will compete in the regularly-scheduled 360 Sprint Car event with her #77x, plus she has a front row starting spot for the makeup A-Feature which was postponed due to rain on July 8. Another 360 Sprint Car event awaits the team on Monday at Ohsweken's Northern Nationals event, followed by Tuesday's Six Nations Showdown with the World of Outlaws at Ohsweken.
Alex will be joined by teammates Cory Turner from Caistor Centre, Ontario, Tecumseh, Michigan's Dain Naida, and Kokomo, Indiana driver Parker Price-Miller this week; Cory will run all three Ohsweken events with his #97, while "Dainomite" is currently planning to race Friday and Monday in his #17x, and Parker will be racing Monday and Tuesday in the #67.
Price-Miller has never finished off the podium at Ohsweken in a Hill's Racing entry; "The Law Firm" won the Northern Nationals for Hill's Racing last season, and followed that with 3rd place finishes in both the Six Nations Showdown and Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.
RACE RESULTS
While Alex Hill took last weekend off in preparation for the big week ahead, some of her teammates were busy...
-Cory Turner finished 5th at Ohsweken on Friday and moved into 2nd place in the championship standings as a result. He started 7th in the Patriot Sprint Tour feature at Brockville Ontario Speedway, but his #97 suffered a blown engine. He was also sidelined from Sunday's PST event at Cornwall Motor Speedway as a result of the engine trouble.
-Dain Naida had trouble with his tow vehicle and almost didn't make it to Ohsweken last Friday. Once there, he struggled in his heat race and had to start 20th in the feature. He got caught up in a crash on the first lap and went to the work area where crew members from several teams replaced the nose wing on the #17x. With repairs made, Dain restarted at the back of the field and charged forward to salvage an 8th place finish. He is now 3rd in the championship standings at Ohsweken. The team headed west on Saturday to race in the SOD series race at Crystal, Michigan where Dain recorded a 5th place finish.
-Shone Evans and Jerry Hill finished 7th and 8th respectively in the Crate Sprint Car feature at Ohsweken on Friday. Shone is 8th in the championship standings with his #87x, while Hill is 9th with his #49h.
-Steve Hess had terrible luck on Friday at Ohsweken in his #7x Thunder Stock. He had nowhere to go and drove over a bumper which had fallen off another car, doing substantial damage which ended his race. He was credited with a 26th place finish, and now sits 8th in the championship standings.
