Toronto, Ontario – Alex Labbé finished at the Grand Prix of Toronto, round 5 of the 2016 Canadian NASCAR Pinty’s series, on Saturday. The Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou’s Barbeque Team had to work very hard after the Ford Fusion no. 32 wrecked in qualifying, working all night to give Labbé a chance to race. Whereas the Can-Am Ford Fusion No. 32 was fast, the driver and crew chief planned to fight their own fight. The team was proud to see Labbé cross the finish line with a 12th place with a car that was not able to race the night before.

Alex Labbé started from the 6th place of the starting grid, planning to check out the handling of the Can-Am Ford Fusion No. 32 in the early part of the race. He reported on lap 12 that he could work with the handling despite an oversteer condition, managing to keep it in the Top-10. The St-Albert, Quebec native was able to bring the Can-Am Ford Fusion No. 32 up to the 9th place for the last restart with 2 to go. A chain action incident in front of him at the restart slowed him down but Alex held on to the 12th place.

“Our weekend did not go as we would have hoped. I will never thank enough my Can-Am Ford Fusion No. 32 team enough for giving me a very competitive car. When I hit the wall in turn 6 during qualifying, I thought we were done for the weekend. I definitely hate to wreck a car and I must thank my whole Go Fas Racing Team for working all night. Unfortunately, the Can-Am Ford Fusion No. 32 was loose during the race, which prevented me from keeping up with the lead pack. Still we did race and that’s what matters to us. We have a lot to be proud of,” described Alex Labbé who was visibly disappointed with the events.

The Can-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou’s Barbeque team will be heading out to West on Friday for the 6th race of the season that will be held on July 23, 2016.

The Grand Prix of Toronto will be broadcast on TSN (3 & 5) on Saturday, July 23 at 2:30 PM as well as on RDS on Aug. 5 at 10 PM.
