Milgrove, Ontario – Steve Trendell scored his third win of the season while Jason Keen went to victory lane for the second time in 2016 during twin 20-lap features for the Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds at Flamboro Speedway on July 9.

In the first of two 20-lap affairs, Ian Burney and Cassidy March brought the field to the green flag. The race was slowed twice on16071204b the opening two laps for separate incidents. Contact between Burney, Brian Atkinson and John Karley during a three-wide battled resulted in Atkinson’s No.92 making hard contact with the outside retaining wall, ending his night.

When the field came back to green with March and Karley up front, the two drivers tangled while battling for the lead. March locked up the brakes and made contact that sent Karley’s No.19 spinning in front of the field. The incident collected Daryl Henwood and Jason Keen, but all cars were able to continue.

The restart then pushed Bob Gilbert’s No.03 and Trendell to the front of the field. Trendell took advantage of the new found track position and raced to the point. From there, he set the cruise control to full speed and checked out to a commanding victory that saw him cross the finish line nearly a half lap ahead of Keen and March.

Round two on the night was significantly calmer than the first go around. Karley held the pole position with Amanda Stoner to his outside and used the number one starting spot to lead the opening lap. From there, Keen drove to the inside of Karley and took over the top spot one lap later, pulling Trendell along to second.

Keen grew his lead to a full straightaway advantage over Trendell, who battled challenging handling issues, and maintained the gap to claim his second checkered flag of the season.

Noticeably absent was TJ Marshall’s No.15 following terminal engine problems at Sauble Speedway on July 2. Marshall hopes to return to competition next weekend.
