Caistor Centre, Ontario - The Team Turner Racing Sprint Car drivers kicked off the July portion of the schedule on a heavy track last Friday. They're ready to race twice this weekend.

Team Turner brought four Sprint Cars to Ohsweken Speedway on Friday night for the Southern Ontario Sprints challenge race with Ohsweken's weekly Sprint Car division. Jamie Turner and his sons Ryan and Cory were ready to race on Canada Day, along with their New Zealand teammate Havard Daniels.

Havard finished 7th in the first heat race with the Plazek Auto Recyclers #9nz, while Jamie was 4th in heat race #2 in his Insta-Panels #11. Cory took 2nd in heat race #3 in the Hill's Racing #97, while his brother Ryan was right behind him in 3rd with his Aces Bar & Grill #91.

Havard started 22nd in the 25 lap A-Feature and advanced 7 positions to finish 15th and take Hard Charger honours. Jamie also advanced from 13th to finish 10th, and Cory moved from 6th to 4th. Ryan drew the 3rd starting spot for the A-Feature, but fell back to finish 6th.

“Missed the track tonight,” Ryan lamented. “It started to slick off in the heats, but after the 50 lap Thunder Stock race, the moisture came back to the track. We tightened up the car too much for the condition of the track. Happy to bring the cars home in one piece, and get ready for next week.”

Cory and his #97 Hill’s Racing team sandwiched the Ohsweken race between trips to New York to take on the Empire Super Sprints during CNY Speedweek. He missed the A-Feature by one spot on Wednesday at Brewerton Speedway, and then got some redemption on Saturday at Fulton Speedway by going from 19th to 11th on a very slick surface.

Team Turner will be back at Ohsweken Speedway for a weekly show this Friday, July 8, and then head to Brighton Speedway to take on the Southern Ontario Sprints tour on Saturday, July 9.

Cory is now tied for 2nd in the Ohsweken championship standings, while Ryan is 4th, and Jamie is 9th.
