But Bad Luck Knocked On The Right Front Tire Putting Labbé In 15th At Sunset Speedway
Innisfill, Ontario — An early wreck around the lap 70 caused Alex Labbé and the Can-Am Ford Fusion Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Loue’s Barbecue to finish 15th in the Leland 300 at Sunset Speedway tonight.
Labbé had the Can-Am Ford Fusion No.32 in 2nd for the beginning of the race chasing close the front leader. Losing some position after pitting on the yellow, got Labbé in trouble when the No.69 got loose in turn 4 and ran right into his right front tire. With the hood flying in any direction, he waits until next caution to make his way into the pit. Turns out, the Can-Am Team is too short on time and Labbé leaves the pit without a complete fix forcing him to come back to the green flag which put him around 4 laps down.
“The car is really sensitive I can feel almost everything and this is not going well,” Labbé said after the race. “It didn’t help us out. We had to start all the way to the back. Those things happen. We got really good and we were driving up there really fast. Unfortunately we got put in that spot.”
Still, he battled and worked hard trying to stay in the race and get his way back into the top 10.
“The No. 69 just came across my right front tire super hard and it completely took all the traction off my car,” Labbé explained. “It was the damnedest thing. We just keep having bad luck.”
With that result, Alex Labbé will drop in the drivers’ points standings moving on to his home track next week where he is his known to succeed.
