Trois-Rivières, Québec – This Saturday September 19, the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare will participate in the last event of the 2015 season. His presence in Kawartha comes with a unique feeling for Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, a year after having earned the coveted title of NASCAR Canadian Tire series champion. “It’s a very special thing for me to go back to Kawartha,” says Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. “I have so many good memories, it feels good to relive these moments.” It’s also on this same track that the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare earned the title of rookie of the year, in 2011.
However, starting on Saturday, the focus will be entirely on the next race. “The pressure is different compared to last year, when a single misstep could’ve made me lose the title, but I always put pressure on myself regardless. I want to do as good as I can with each race because I feel privileged to be a part of NASCAR Canadian Tire. I didn’t grow up in a very rich family, and I’m conscious of the fact that I can be in NASCAR thanks to the great support of my partners WeatherTech Canada and Groupe Bellemare. One of the ways I like to thank them is by getting great results.”
Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is in fourth place in the driver rankings with 21 points on D.J. Kennington, in fifth place. ”A 21-point advantage may seem like a comfortable margin, but you can never take anything for granted. However, I’m more interested in looking ahead; there are two racers who are tied in second place [J. Hathaway and A. Ranger], 14 points ahead. Anything can happen in a race, the important thing for me is to remain focused to obtain the best possible result, and we’ll see where I end up in the championship.” The driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare is a real competitor and, in his mind, a place among the top 3 in the championship remains possible.
Competition is very high in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
“There are excellent drivers in the series, it’s what defines it. I would love to finish the season on a good note, and why not with a victory.” Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is still seeking a first win this year. Despite being in a position to win two times throughout the season, the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare car didn’t have luck on his side on those occasions. “For Kawartha, we have some adjustments that work really well on the circuit, so I’m approaching this race with a lot of confidence”, concludes Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
The Pinty's 250 will be presented on September 19th at the Kawartha Speedway, located in Fraserville in Ontario.
*The race will be broadcasted on TSN on October 3 at 1 p.m. and on RDS2 on October 22 at 7 p.m
