Bowmanville, Ontario – Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has crossed the finish line in second place today on the road circuit of the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team was able to overcome the challenges with great success, and, with great agility, the current champion was able to gain place after place throughout the 51-lap race. On lap 42, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin pulls ahead until a tire puncture occurs on the last restart, slowing down his push. The driver of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare has fought relentlessly to maintain his position until the checkered flag was waved.
The first practice session on Saturday, August 29 went well, and the WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team was ready to test new adjustments. However, a mechanical issue at engine level reared its head, making Louis-Philippe Dumoulin unable to get a time during the second session. Mario Gosselin, crew chief, then made the decision to replace the engine. The teammates worked tirelessly to finish the modifications on time for Louis-Philippe Dumoulin to qualify the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare car. Despite being in thirteenth place on the starting grid, conjugation between quality driving and an efficient pit stop strategy has paid off.
“The original engine was almost new, and we wanted to fine tune it to insure the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare had great speed. It wasn’t the initial plan, but we were able to make some other adjustments before replacing the engine for the qualifying. The guys have been able to react proactively, which allowed us to make up some ground and close in on the leaders. Without the unfortunate tire puncture incident in the last restart, we would have been able to get the victory. A second place is great in the circumstances, and the gap is closing in the race to the podium in this championship,” explains Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
The tenth event of the season concludes on a positive note for the WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team. Now is time for preparations ahead of the final race which will take place this upcoming September 19 on the oval track of the Kawartha Speedway (Fraserville, Ontario).
*The race will be broadcasted on TSN on August 22 at 6 p.m. and on RDS2 on September 4 at 7:30 p.m.
