DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team bounced back from disappointment out west with a top-five finish in round number seven of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on Saturday at the Autodrome St. Eustache near Montreal Quebec. The team was near the front of the field much of the night and despite late race contact still came home with a strong result.

Right from the start of the day Kennington was extremely happy with the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge and posted the quickest lap time during the final practice session. “We did our homework and the car was really strong right off the truck,” said Kennington.

Disappointed with a ninth place starting spot Kennington began moving the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge forward right from the drop of the green flag for the 250-lap feature. “I wasn’t happy with the qualifying lap but I knew we’d be good in the race and we were,” stated the driver.

Kennington continued to move forward in the field and pushed the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge in second position. Following scheduled service for tires and fuel Kennington was on the charge and looking for top spot but another caution would slow the field. “We made a little adjustment during the stop and we were really hooked up” he stated. “After the caution though it wasn’t quite as strong”.

Kennington would find more trouble later on when working around a lapped car he was contacted and suffered significant body damage to the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge. Kennington came to pit road for service and the team secured the bodywork and sent the driver back into the fight.

“It was a fight to the finish too” claimed the driver. “We battled hard the rest of the way and snagged a top five. We had a car that was capable of winning tonight but it didn’t work out. But with all the hard work this Castrol Edge Dodge team has put in, we’ll be there every weekend so I’m really pleased about that” he stated.

After seven races DJ Kennington is sixth in the overall championship standings.
