Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – On the oval track of the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, Jean-François Dumoulin used his legendary tenacity and ability to persevere relentlessly to cross the finish line in eighth place on the leader's lap, on Wednesday (July 15). In eleventh place on the starting grid, the road circuit specialist maneuvered strategically throughout the race, despite a dysfunctional carburetor causing a loss of raw power. This third top 10 appearance of the season allows him to maintain his seventh place in the standings.
Following a collision with a rival on the sixth lap, the #04 Bernier Crépeau/ Group Bellemare/ MIA car went into a tailspin. Further, through the nine neutralization (74/250 laps), the elder Dumoulin brother was forced to enter the pits two extra times, as the #04 Bernier Crépeau/ Group Bellemare/ MIA team attempted to solve the mechanical issue. Each time, Jean-François Dumoulin was able to gain back places with great agility, heading towards the top 10 despite being at the end of the pack on the final restart.
"The tires we used for trial sessions were very used up, and we've made multiple modifications before the qualifying session. Our car was understeering on the exit of each turn. During the race, Éric Laperle has made interesting adjustments on two occasions, though we still had to deal with the carburetor issue. The car was not fast, but I was able to maintain the pace and climb up to the top 10."
