Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Louis-Philippe Dumoulin has fought relentlessly among the leaders throughout the length of the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 event yesterday on the oval track of the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. Going back and forth between the fifth and first place, the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare car has led the race for eleven laps (laps 51 to 61). However, an incident late in the race has forced him to enter the pits, losing some precious ground in the process. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is now in fifth place in the championship, only one point behind third place.

A powerful car, an experienced team. Behind the wheel of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare, the 2014 Champion of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series has scored the fastest time of the second practice session. On the starting grid in third place, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was able to compose with nine cautions (74/250 laps), including one due to rain which required a full pit stop for 51 laps (laps 190 to 215). Well-positioned for the end of the race (2nd place), Louis-Philippe Dumoulin was fighting Scott Steckly and Jason Hathaway for the podium. However, on lap 220, a collision on the track with Hathaway forced Louis-Philippe Dumoulin to the outer edge of the turn, #3 causing a tire puncture which forced a pit stop to repair the heavily damaged axle. This third place does not in any way reflect the exemplary work of Mario Gosselin, crew chief, King Autosport, and the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team.

"We had the car to win it. The boys offered me a very powerful car from the start, and at some point we were as fast as the leader. At the end of the race, Hathaway pushed the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare car repeatedly, which sent me on the outside of turn #3. Residue accumulated on the tires and I almost hit the wall. Being forced to enter the pits made us lose multiple laps. The team was efficient and I was able to cross the finish line," explains Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.

The championship race is far from over, and the #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team remains focused on its goal. Back in Quebec for the next two races, the NASCAR Canadian Tire series will make a first stop at Autodrome St-Eustache and will then be headed to the most anticipated event of the season, the Trois-Rivières Grand Prix. The whole #47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare team is determined to renew last year's success by climbing on the podium once again.

* The race will be broadcast on TSN on July 25 at 12:30 p.m. and on August 8 at 2 p.m. on RDS2.
