Brighton, Ontario – The 48th season of excitement at Brighton Speedway resumes on Saturday night with a full card of action for all five local divisions, including the second race of the Larry’s Towing Pro Stock Triple Crown presented by Deerhaven Farm and Garden and Ajax Nissan.

Pro Stock

The current division point leader, Justin Ramsay (No.03 Empey Tire), won the first Larry’s Towing Triple Crown race of the season on May 16 and has carried the momentum to four wins so far this season. Ramsay’s success hasn’t come without it’s challenges from Doug Anderson (No.72 Hunt’s Landscaping), among others.

Anderson sits second in the current standings, just 20 points behind Ramsay. Wade Purchase (No.53 Performance Auto Sales) is the only Pro Stock victor this season and will look for win number two this week. Jamie Marshall (No.55 C&L Upholstery) and Leslie Mowat (No.2 Tri-County Plastics) have been in the hunt every week as well and will be eager to claim their first victories of the season once again.

RUSH Pro Late Models

The Vanderlaan Building Products RUSH Pro Late Models were off the schedule last weekend, but several drivers chose to compete against the World of Outlaws Late Models Series and in the Go Nuclear! Late Model series season opener at Can-Am Motorsports.

RUSH weekly series action resumes this week with Corey Earl (No.11 Hotch’s Auto Parts) at the top of the 2015 season. Earl won on opening night and, despite his consistency, has yet to park in victory lane since. Charlie Sandercock (No.57 Deerhaven) has won three times, but a pair of subpar finishes have the No.57 second in the current standings. Phil Potts (No.29 Vanderlaan), Kyle Sopaz (No.12 Free Flow Petroleum) and Steve Baldwin (No.5 Smokin’ Speedway) complete the current top-five in the standings.

Canadian Modifieds

The Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds were the only weekly division on tap during last week’s Mud Slinger 50. Andrew Hennessy (No.87 Custom Automotive) became the first driver to repeat in victory lane this season. Five different drivers have earned checkered flags in six races this season.

Hennessy has finished in the top-five in every start so far this year and sits atop the standings with a narrow 20-point lead over Dan Ferguson (No.11 Kilmarnock Enterprise). Doug O’Blenis (No.32 John’s Car Care) suffered a mechanical DNF last week and fell to third in the standings, but maintains the ability and time to make up a 170-point gap on Hennessy. Curtis King (No.07 Ajax Nissan) and Kraig Handley (No.91 Tri-Canadian Energy), on the strength of a third-place finish last Saturday, sit third and fourth respectively in the division standings.

Comp 4

The Bill’s Johns Comp 4 drivers return to action after a one-week hiatus. Several drivers used the off week to travel east and compete at the Brockville Ontario Speedway. Tyler French (No.0 Empey Tire) finished third at the BOS last Saturday, the same spot he occupies in the current Brighton standings. French won at Brighton when he last unloaded the No.0 on June 13.

French’s teammate Shelby Mills (No.78 ABC Taxi) is the current point leader and has one victory this season. Austin Reid (No.85 Young Drivers) sits just 35 points behinds Mills for the lead. Brady Greer (No.94 Greer Excavating) is fourth in the standings. Greer finished ninth at Brockville last week. Courtney Mastin (No.97 DW Metal Expressions) is currently fifth in the standings.

Stingers

The Quinte Septic Stingers have been on hold since June 6 and will now be in action for two consecutive weeks. Chris Lammle (No.95 Sowerby Signs) won when the Stingers last hit the track on June 6 and sits second in the points standings following the victory. Wins will be difficult to come by this season in the Stinger division with over 25 cars attempting to qualify for just 20 spots each race.

Jorden Pickell (No.93 Sowerby Signs) is the current point-leader with a 25-point advantage over Lammle. Andy Fletcher (No.42 Like-Nu Driveway Sealing), Mike Brooks (No.44 Doug’s Auto Glass) and Del MacGregor (No.19 R. Ward Construction) occupy the current top-five.

Tickets Please!

Adult admission for Deerhaven Farm and Garden and Ajax Nissan night is just $10. A Family Pass is just $25 and is valid for two adults and two children under the age of 16 and includes family-size popcorn.

Spectator gates will open at 5:30pm. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:00pm. The first green flag is at 7:00pm.
