Port Perry, Ontario – The second round of the 2019 Canadian Superbike Series (CSBK) took place this past weekend, June 7-9, at Grand Bend Raceway in Grand Bend, Ontario.

Ben Young, on the Scot-Build/Hindle/BMW S1000RR, kept the momentum going after a great opening round at Shannonville. Young was fastest all weekend, staying at the top of the board during each session. When it came to qualifying, it was a close one between Young and Szoke, on the Mopar/Hindle/Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Young came back into the pits after his fastest lap only to see Szoke's name at the top of the list. With barely any time to spare, Young jumped back on his BMW S1000RR and pulled the fastest lap of the weekend, even setting another track record. This secured the top spot on the grid for Young on race day, followed by Szoke in 2nd and Michael Leon (Royal Distributing/Hindle/BMW S1000RR) in 3rd.

On Sunday for race day, the weather cooperated and made for the perfect day. Everyone knew the battle would be close in the Mopar Pro Superbike race because of how close the lap times were in the previous days.

As the race began, Szoke took the lead for the opening lap with Young and Daley close behind. In the first corner of lap 2, Young made the pass for the lead and was able to hold onto that spot with Szoke close behind and Daley starting to fall back a bit further.

In the final corner of the final lap, Szoke was able to make an identical pass as he did last year, but Young was able to regain the lead quickly and cross the finish line in 1st place. Szoke came in 2nd with just 0.153 seconds of a gap behind Young. Young explained, "I went defensive into the second last corner and Jordan came up the inside but he ran it wide, so I managed to cut back up the inside and retake the lead with a clean run to the line to take the win." Young added, "we had another fantastic weekend, where the bike felt great and the team worked flawlessly."

"I thought I had him at the end, and I was planning something the whole way, but I just went in a little too deep and he was able to duck underneath me," explained Szoke. "It's a tough break, but we made some steps and we're scoring points. This was one of Ben's strongest tracks, but now we go to maybe my best track from the last few year's in St.-Eustache, so we'll keep plugging along and the wins will come."

Trevor Daley, on the Parts Canada/Suzuki GSX-R1000 rounded up the podium in 3rd place, followed by local racer Steven Nickerson, on the Dewildt Honda/Hindle/Honda CBR1000RR, in 4th place and Michael Leon, on the Royal Distributing/Hindle/BMW S1000RR in 5th place.

In the Liqui Moly Pro Sportbike Class race, Sebastien Tremblay on the Turcotte Performance/Hindle/Kawasaki ZX-6R had an amazing run and battle with Dylan Bauer, on the Hindle-powered Yamaha YZF-R6. Unfortunately, the two had a collision that caused a red flag and the race was more than 2/3 completed; therefore, the last lap standings counted towards the podium. Because of the circumstance of the collision, race officials first declared Tremblay as the winner, and Bauer in 2nd - but, it was later updated (June 12) that both racers did indeed cause the red flag and were put at the end of the results.

With the updated results, Tomas Casas on the Peterborough Cycle/Hindle/Yamaha YZ-R6 finished in the top spot, followed by Will Hornblower (YZF-R6) in 2nd place and David MacKay, on the MacK AttacK Racing/Hindle/Kawasaki ZX-6R in 3rd place.

In Amateur racing, Dave Natale, on the Hindle-powered Aprilia RSV4, took home another 1st place finish in the Mopar Express Lane Amateur Superbike class. Andrew Haick, on a Hindle powered BMW S1000RR, came in a close 2nd place, followed by Jordan Bauer in 3rd place (YZF-R6).

In the Parts Canada Amateur Sportbike class, Jake Leclair (YZF-R6) came in 1st place, followed by Jordan Bauer (YZF-R6) in 2nd place and Connor Campbell (ZX-6R) in 3rd place.

In other Amateur racing, Avery Hart on the Hindle powered Yamaha YZF-R3, took home two back-to-back wins in the TSN's Motorcycle Experience Amateur Lightweight Sport Bike class in both Race 1 and Race 2. Teammate Keegan Gaudet, also on an YZF-R3, took home 2nd place in Race 1 and unfortunately crashed in Race 2.

Ben Leclair (YZF-R3) rounded up the podium and finished 3rd in Race 1. In Race 2, Trevor Dion (Ninja 400) finished in 2nd place, followed by Alex Berthiaume (YZF-R3) in 3rd place.

The Classic Super Bike Racing series (CSBR) ran in conjunction with the Canadian Superbike Championship Series (CSBK) this past weekend for their inaugural race. Lang Hindle made the trip with his Kawasaki KZ1000 Superbike set on display all weekend long. Due to an injury, Lang was unable to ride the Superbike in the parade lap, so former teammate Rueben McMurter completed the parade lap aboard the original winning Superbike.
