Mopar Canadian Superbike Round 2 was hosted at Grand Bend Motorplex this past weekend. This would be Jordan's first weekend back from a horrific crash at the opening round at Shannonville Motorsports Park. Szoke returned to the second round of racing with a freshly built ZX10 for competition as his “A bike” was damaged badly.

Szoke started off the line in the front row after narrowly missing out on pole position during Saturdays Superbike Qualifying session. Szoke held top spot until just minutes left in the session where he was bested by Collingwood ON’s Ben Young.

“It’s frustrating, but the bike felt really good, and everything was a little more comfortable today," said Szoke. "There’s always some changes to be made, so hopefully we make the right ones and come out stronger in the race tomorrow.”

Sunday’s race boasted yet arguably the most thrilling racing to date as Szoke attempted a last lap pass diving into the carousel. The dash to the checkered was a tight one, with Szoke slipping to secure second spot on the podium.

“I thought I had him at the end, and I was planning something the whole way, but I just went in a little too deep and he was able to duck underneath me,” explained Szoke. “It’s a tough break, but we made some steps and we’re scoring points. This was one of Ben’s strongest tracks, but now we go to maybe my best track from the last few years in Ste. Eustache, so we’ll keep plugging along and the wins will come.”

Szoke trails the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship by 29 points heading into their best track on the calendar on June 21-23 at Autodrome St Eustache.

Amy Szoke had a tough weekend in the Lightweight division aboard her Kawasaki Ninja 400. Despite a strong outing during a sunny afternoon on Thursday’s open track day, Amy was unable to set any clear fast laps throughout the official weekend. Falling during both of Fridays sessions and in Race #2 on Sunday.

“I was going awesome and then I just wasn’t.” says a disappointed Amy. “I had a pretty rough start after showing well. Although my spirits were lifted when my alter ego from south of the border (Melissa Paris) arrived in a surprise visit on Sunday. She reminded me to do something that made me proud today. I wasn’t particularly proud of my Qualifying and race results on Saturday as I was tentative and nervous. Therefore I resolved to going for it on Sunday no matter the outcome. Even though I fell on lap #2 I didn’t hesitate and threw down one of my faster laps of the weekend. I picked my crashed mini up out of the dandelions and finished the race because that’s what winners do even if they come in at the back of the pack.”

Amy sits in 7th spot in the Lightweight sport bike official standings with 8 races left in the calendar.
