The Harley Davidson Canadian National Flat Track Championship series presented by Parts Canada returns to the Leamington fairgrounds on July 14th. In one of the favorite stops in the series sanctioned by Flat Track Canada, "Thunderfest," always provides some amazing racing in front of a packed house. Long regarded as one of the best half mile tracks in Canada, those in attendance on Saturday will be treated to some of the best racing action you will see all summer.
In 2017 hometown hero Brodie Buchan took the victory at Leamington over multi-time Canadian Champion Don Taylor and New York native Cody Johncox. Buchan may have the lion's share of the fans cheering for him this year as well but the task won't be easy to repeat. While Buchan is an ace on the cushion half miles he can expect a heavy challenge from the likes of Taylor, Tyler Seguin, Dustin Brown, and the grizzled veteran Chris Evans just to name a few.
After over a month off this will be race number three in the Flat Track Canada series and points as of now see Buchan sitting in third, five points behind the leader. Current point's leader is Seguin with 34 while second year Expert Brown is two points down on Seguin. The first two races of the season were won by Dave Pouliot and Chris Evans who currently sit fourth and fifth in the points respectively. While Evans gained his victory on the clay in Welland, both he and Pouliot are comfortable on the cushion tracks so they will be looking to climb the point's ladder on Saturday.
Harley-Davidson Canada will be offering their demo rides and "Test our Metal". Add your own THUNDER to Thunderfest by trying one of Harley's newest models. All you need to bring is your helmet.
Saturday will see heat races starting at 5:00 P.M. with opening ceremonies scheduled for 7:00 P.M.
