Toronto, Ontario – Leading MotoAmerica competitor Claudio Corti of Italy will enter his Houston Superbike Aprilia RSv4 in the final two rounds of the 2016 Mopar CSBK National Championship Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend, August 19-21.
One of the leading programs on the American National scene, the HSBK Aprilia Factory Team have special support from Pure Genius Beverages and Canada’s Aprilia Dealers for their efforts at the track formerly know as Mosport International.
Corti, 29 years of age, is the 2005 European 600cc Superstock Champion, and since then has competed in several premier world series, including MotoGP, Moto 2 and World Superbike, most recently for the Forward Team in the premier Grand Prix category.
“Thanks to a significant break in the MotoAmerica schedule and our amazing sponsors, we had an opportunity to work with Aprilia and participate in a CSBK event,” explained Team Owner Bobby Shek. “With five wins for Corti this season in the SuperStock 1000 class, our team is performing well and ready for the challenge of the famous Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and also meet all the Aprilia supporters and Superbike fans in Canada.
“Both the American and Canadian series use the same spec Dunlop slick tires, so that makes it much easier for our team to head north and learn a new track, without having to change the well-developed set-up of our Aprilia.”
The Western Sales Manager, Piaggio Group Canada, David Grummett, a former Canadian National Pro road racer, explained that “we have been working on this opportunity for a few months, and with the help of Pure Genius and our head office, we’ve managed to get an A-level Aprilia on the grid for the final 2016 Canadian Nationals.
“We are confident in the outstanding performance of our Italian v-four machinery and the HSBK team. We aim to run at the front in the Canadian debut of Dunlop’s Q slicks in Dalton Timmis Insurance SuperPole Qualifying on Friday, and then in the two Superbike Feature events on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.”
The Canadian Aprilia Dealers Group supports Corti’s CSBK challenge, including Blackfoot Motosports (Calgary), Corsa Meccanica (Toronto), Echo Cycle (Edmonton), International Motorsports (Vancouver), R Goulet Moto Sports (St. Jerome, Que.) and Two Wheel Motorsports (Guelph, Ont.).
Aprilia have previously competed on the CSBK tour, with popular veteran Frank Trombino of Woodbridge, Ont. running a limited schedule in 2014, earning a National Superbike Feature race victory in the rain at CTMP two years ago.
Recently revamped Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is the former host of Formula One autos as well as Grand Prix bikes and World Superbike, offering a hilly 10 turns, 3.9km (2.459 miles) in length. The famous venue hosted the first ever Superbike race in Canada in 1978, won by Florida’s John Long on a BMW twin.
Pure Genius beverages are produced by D’Angelo Brands Beverages of Canada, who offer specific flavours including both sparkling and natural Cucumber water, as well as Avocado, Aloe Vera, Grapefruit, Cantaloupe, Ice Tea and Lemonade and Green Tea with Ginseng. Pure Genius is owned by Aprilia enthusiast Frank D’Angelo.
